Welcome to the SDSU invitational where all other other teams seasons come to die. if I had to point to one moment that typifies this game it is when trimboli and a Jack player had a 50 50 ball and the Jack player ripped it right out of her hands. that doesn't happen to trimboli. WNIT here we come.

The offense has been strong all year just can't make a shot. Shooting 22% and 2-14 won't give you many leads. I would agree if our shots were good shots. We are taking bad and forced shots, which is partially because SDSU is good defensively. I don't think Dawn did a very good job with the offensive game plan. Hopefully we can fix for the NIT.

Why don't you two just turn off the TV and put on a blue shirt, makes me sick. There is an entire half of basketball to go. USD led the conference in FG% this season, idk how that means the offense was bad all year.

It's unclear who should be taking shots. I would like to see much less McKeever and much more Lamb.

Someone who knows more basketball than me can answer this maybe. We have Arens, Bradley, Duffy, Lamb, and Trimboli who cut the lead to 6 points from down 17. Why did we sub in new people? Just fatigue? Then the other teams comes right back and gets it back to 11.

Arena and Lamb have 4 fouls, could be a reason. Honestly Yotes are forcing a lot of 3s and missing badly. Part okkf that is the Jacks D but I haven't seen this bad of shot selection all year.

What a day to play your worst game of the year. Bust out the Joose and cue the inbreeding.

If I never have to hear these two announcers again, it will be too soon. That female announcer seems like she is a former bunny.

Worst possible day for bad shooting performance. Lack of size and a true post in the inside really hurt today especially when the shots just wouldn’t fa. This one stings but to say this team over achieved this year is an understatement. They far exceeded my expectations but it still sucks losing to SDSU when it matters the most.

Looks like the Jacks finally decided to adopt the Necks/Yotes style of defense. I didn't recognize either team today. I'd comment more, but might end up using some banned words....

Congrats to the Jacks, they have a great team. Uncharacteristically, the Yotes shot way too many 3's and going 6-30 behind the arc won't get it done against anyone let alone the Jacks. This is why it sucks to be in the Summit League, was hoping we would win and Jacks get an at-large, but that won't happen this year. Good luck in the tourney.

I am completely shocked by the result in some ways but not in others. It felt like we went back to how we played in the nonconference schedule. I am trying to gather my thoughts on this. Very sad for our ladies and USD.

That sucked. Reminded me of the game two years ago in the championship. Sucks to have a 20 game winning streak and be in the exact same position we were last year when we didn't have nearly as good of a season. I'm hoping we have a better crowd there for the mens game tonight. Last year in the men's game I felt it was 60/40 blue, today I felt it was 75/25.

Give me all the negative rep points you want but this performance is unacceptable today. The Coyotes were not ready for the increased intensity. The bottom line is this is a Blue state as Daum said and it was proven again today. The South Dakota globe is back on it's axis again as it almost always ends up doing when all is said and done. 14-0 right down the toilet and the Jacks get bragging rights again. The Jacks could have a D2 team in talent and they would still win this tourney. The Coyotes look razzled out there. As a program men's and women's the Coyotes as a #1 seed, yes a #1 seed are 0-4 in making the NCAA tourney. The head to head between both programs is something like 10-1 in favor of the Jacks when the teams play in this tourney. What is disappointing about today is I don't feel like the Coyotes were organized and they got out hustled quite a bit. The Jacks wanted it more. I cannot complain about the officiating as the officials for the most part let them play.
Who thinks the Summit League is good for the Coyotes again?
Tonight we can get back a lot but if we fail to deliver tonight this may be the single worst day in Coyote sports history.

I was inspired to share my feelings my Coyote Fan, so here it goes (feel free to give me lots of negative points for raising honest questions that I have about my favorite team though). Although this post will possibly see many disagree, hopefully at least a few will agree (as a caveat, this is not necessarily an overreaction to today but something I was pondering much of the nonconference season):
Dawn won coach of the year this year, but I’m not entirely sure that she has been as good as we all (including myself during the conference season) thinks. In the non-conference, we were not good. We lost to several teams that we were more talented then and others that had more talent. Then, we went on a 20 game winning streak. But did we beat that many really good teams? SDSU twice, yes. Those were good wins. But besides that, how many wins were born by the fact that we are simply much more talented than everyone else. I guess I would pose the question to this board, what is our goal? To make the tournament or to beat lots and lots of Summit league teams each year that we have 3x the talent of?
So, to get to the point. In the Summit league, players like Frederick and McKeever will always be better than the other players and almost all 150+ RPI teams we play each week. But against the better teams, they have consistently struggled. In the games against “better” talent, our offense has also consistently struggled this year. Everyone looks confused about who should be shooting and when. We don’t have any set plays (which I realize is Dawn’s offense), but then we end with lots of bad shots against good defensive teams like today. Put differently, it works against teams we are more talented than and hasn’t worked against ones we are less talented than. Why don’t we give players like Lamb and Trimboli and Duffy and Arens more opportunities to score in set plays? We should have thrown the ball inside to Trimboli as much as possible. Instead, half of our possessions end with McKeever or Arens holding the ball for 10+ seconds outside the arc which is so frustrating because as good as both of them are offensively, they don’t see the floor well. Or we end up with Duffy throwing the ball up with 3 seconds on the shot clock because it’s about to expire.
My point is this. I’m not sure going on a 20 game winning streak against teams that we have much more talent than should be our goal. This is probably an unpopular opinion and also because I am frustrated with losing to the Jacks yet again. But we can’t set our rotations and offense up to beat the worst teams but must plan for the best teams. I hope Dawn can correct this for next year because I hate losing to the Jacks and can’t stand to see all of that blue cheering again.
