Houston was crazy athletic, but in some cases I think they might have been better athletes than basketball players. Our ladies did a great job of handling the multiple full court presses that were thrown at them and our defense did a very nice job on help and recover and defense away from the ball. You can tell they're very well coached on this. I did think the refs bailed out Houston on out of control drives a few too many times. Strangest stat to me was the fact that we opened 6/10 on three pointers at the beginning of the game against man, but only hit 1/12 when they switched to zone until Duffy nailed a few in a row. Yotes could have shot better overall, but I'll attribute that to the Cougars defense. All in all, solid game against a talented team.

That was a fun game to watch, just a little bit nerve-racking at some points. The Houston girls were very athletic, but our girls matched them stride for stride. I was really impressed once again by our passing game, and how our girls fought and defended inside the lane. Nice win Yotes! Looking forward to another one on Sunday!

I like these clips from the women's twitter account. McKeever played with fire.

I like these clips from the women's twitter account. McKeever played with fire. There was more effort in McKeever's play at 1:08 in the highlight video than I saw in the entire men's game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lS6vCo1RD4

Great game by the ladies last night. Glad that I attended and plan to be there Sunday as well. Grab a friend and bring them to the game as this team deserves our support. Thought we had a chance to bury Houston last night, but the shots went cold in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Tremendous effort and determination kept Houston from taking over during that period when the ball wouldn't fall. Great coaching always helps as well!
Look forward to seeing former USD player and coach, Ryan Williams, return to Vermillion.
