Very proud of our Yotes today. CSU made a big run against us in the third but we fought back well! Also, Duffy with a great game. 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists. Bradley also shot well from 3 with 15 points. If I remember correctly, CSU hit three 3s in three possessions when they cut the lead to five, but then the Yotes answered with an 18-0 run and it was pretty much game, set, match after that. I really thought Houston was a tougher matchup mainly because of their athleticism.

I want to thank Dave Herbster and the admin for putting a high value on our Women's Basketball program in making these bids competitive enough to out due a program such as Michigan State. That is awesome and it is time to gas up the car for Thursday Night. Excellent point! The USD Athletic Department has pushed their chips in the middle of the table on this women's program. It's up to the fans to mitigate that bet, and I think we will. I'm getting my tickets now. I don't know what the bids are, but $10 to $15 per adult ticket x 2,000 for that last game = $20,000 to $30,000 (minus operating costs). They still probably take a bath, but support the program anyway.

Every time I watch Chloe Lamb play, I am more impressed with her. She has great composure for a true freshman. She has gotten better as the season goes along and these extra games are an awesome chance for her to keep getting better.

She has long arms, handles the ball well, and has a good all-around game. McKeever is a great defender, but she isn’t long. She has also done a pretty good job running the point as she appears to handle the ball well with each hand.

McKeever will always find a way to get minutes because she hustles more than any other player, but we are starting to see all the things Lamb can bring because of her length, like seeing over the defense to make open passes. I'm really hoping this could be the difference next year against SDSU, since McKeever struggled and Lamb just wasn't ready as a young freshman. We know we will continue to have great guard play next year where we can play either of them when the match up is right. Yesterday got me much more excited for next year overall.

30-12 Coyotes in the 2nd quarter. Maybe Ryun Williams is wishing he never left. Just because CSU is in a more highly regarded conference doesn't mean they are the better program. I'm guessing he'd look at his bank account and say otherwise. Quick google search shows Williams base salary at $215k next season. He has bonuses for conference championship, tournament berths, etc. I’m guessing $215k at CSU is pretty comparable to Dawn’s $185k in Vermillion when you break down COLA. Now, if memory serves me, Ryun was only making $120k at USD when he left, as I’m pretty sure that is what Amy got initially before getting bumped up after a couple season to $180k. So yes his bank account is probably bigger but salaries are comparable now.

If the Coyotes play like they did against Houston I feel confident in a double digit win. WIU was the quicker of the two teams. Houston appeared more athletic by far than CSU did. The Rams have a decent amount of size but nothing that will be a huge problem. I give the Yotes a 80% chance of a win and I will go 74-56 red and white. Pretty close prediction.

I've read comments on Denver's fan board, and now similar comments on Colorado State's, about how embarrassing it is to lose to basketball programs that "don't invest the same kind of money". (before seeing what we actually invest in top coaches, facilities, and fan interest) I guess you can either look at it as annoying or funny what kind of stereotypes people have about our teams in the Dakotas. I mean, how many consecutive national titles did NDSU have to win in football before College Gameday started showing up?

No doubt that there was a difference when we were in transition, but not so much anymore. I don't know for a fact, but assume that getting closer to family may have played into it for Ryun as well. Regardless, we have been blessed with some great coaches.

I don't know if I've seen a player improve during the course of one season as much as Chloe Lamb has. She's gone from being somewhat tentative on the court to being a major factor in games. What impresses me the most about her game is her drives into the lane and the pull ups for the 10 to 12 foot jumper which is somewhat of a lost art anymore. She keeps improving like this the sky's the limit.

She has a smooth shot with great touch. Her ball handling skills are very good for a freshman. Her main areas to work on are her defensive consistency and to get stronger. Agree she has a bright future!!

Lamb's development makes me think back to last year and this summer when players were talking about how much this staff focuses on individual player development. Also how the "positionless" approach forces players to work on their all-around game more than they had in the past. I remember Abby Fogg mentioning how developing her outside game seemed to help her with post-grad playing opportunities. (being 6-4 doesn't hurt, either)
Another thing to keep in mind is that Lamb is the first Coach-P-recruited player to get significant playing time. I don't think it's an accident that she is thriving in this brand of motion offense. It might just be by design.
