I still don't understand why they don't bring in NSIC Freshman of the year AJ Plitzuweit Do we know for sure that they haven't tried?

I'm hearing that Noah Friedel has reopened his recruiting.

I'm hearing that Noah Friedel has reopened his recruiting. I hope Coach Lee and staff are talking to him about becoming a Yote. I think he will be a great player and can be a multi year starter in Vermillion. A redshirt the first year would be helpful as guard minutes will be tough to come by next season.

No mention made of this in the POY article in the Argus. He talked about how Wright State was such a great fit, but with how fluid things are anymore in college hoops a person can just never say never.

One thing to keep in mind is available schollies. Next year we will have:
5 Seniors (Hags, Simpson, Kelley, Armstrong, TP) 2 Juniors (Umude, Polanco) 2 Soph (Johns, Koster[redshirting]) 3 Freshmen (Jovic[Redshirted], Goodrick, Kruz Perot-Hunt)
That only leaves 1 open scholarship, and Lee has talked about pursuing a JC transfer or a D-1 transfer. He also needs to get another 6-9+ center-type for when Hags graduates and add some scoring. Also talked about adding athleticism and defense.
I agree that it's good to get the best local guys for fan interest, but Does Noah meet this team's pressing needs? And do we have room? I haven't followed him, but I'm guessing he is a great shooter. How's his defense, athleticism and speed, though? I think he might be redundant with Koster coming in.
*edit: I forgot about Koster. fixed the response...

With 5 seniors next year, I wonder if we would offer a guy like that a "greyshirt" or preferred walk-on spot? He might not take it if he has other D-1 offers.

Right! Forgot about Koster. That makes 12 scholarships for next year. Only one more available, unless he "encourages" Jovic to transfer.

From what I hear, Freidel has been granted his release from Wright State and wants to stay closer to home. Hopefully Coach Lee can find a way to make him a Yote as he will draw interest from many D1 schools in the area.

As others have mentioned, lack of available scholarship could hamper this pursuit.

TJ leaves for UNLV. SDSU has some guys enter the transfer portal and another decommit. Freidel decommits from Wright State and says he wants to stay closer to home. USD doesn't have available scholarships and Coach Lee has had an entire year to pull this kid in. A flurry of changes at State and all of the sudden he's decommitting. C'mon guys, 2+2=4. This is pretty obvious, isn't it.

If he goes there, and he ends up being as good as I think he will be, then I will be very upset with our coaching staff. This is a guy who wanted to come to USD, an in state kid. You don't have to worry about guys like that transferring out when they grow up wanting to go to your school.

I doubt that we'd see him in that ugly blue from the north. It wouldn't surprise me to see Big East blue or Missouri Valley purple in the mix though. I have my faith in Coach Lee to figure it out.
