wbbblog.com/2018/04/05/womens-basketball-transfers-spring-summer-2018/amp/I saw this listing of the players that had announced so far that they were transferring. I know there are a couple updates that aren’t on here, as another girl just left New Mexico today. Also missing are updates of where girls have committed to, because I know some of those have already happened as well. So, I’m sure there will be revisions...

I know we will have two open schollies after this year, so maybe our coaches will be looking for another post player? If we don't fill the scholarships they might give one or both to the walk-ons, but I think it's smart to always keep one in your back pocket. You ever know when a great transfer will become available.

www.coloradoan.com/story/sports/csu/2018/04/03/csu-womens-basketball-team-sees-five-players-leave-program/481537002/Ryun Williams is losing 5 players this Spring to transfer from Colorado State. What is going on there? Looks like he uses a lot of international players and transfers. (didn't he sign our two Aussie's?). I always wondered why Caitlin Duffy transferred to Vermillion. CSU is in a little better conference, Fort Collins is a vibrant City, and is about the same distance from Rapid City. I never read the reason for the transfer. Ryun left what Amy called "a great culture" behind in Vermillion, so I guess I don't get it.

I do know several of the Minnesota players that are transferring, ( there ate a couple more than you listed), a couple of them pretty well. Hannah played with (same AAU club, different year) and against them in high school and AAU games. However, I will not comment on them because I believe at this point that is between the girls and any prospective coaches and I would not want my comments to be misread or misinterpreted by anybody.

Fair enough. That's smart of you. Can't blame a guy for trying.

It looks like USF is stiffening the lineup for next year.

I didn't notice this earlier, but Amber Vidal, Omaha's scoring and assists leader, is transferring out. That's a big blow to them. She was an accurate 3-PT shooter. She is originally from San Antonio, and will be transferring to Lamar (Beaumont, TX) to be closer to family. We want the Summit to be a stronger RPI conference, so that doesn't help the cause.
I think it is interesting that a lot of these transfers choose schools that are closer to home. In WBB it seems like regionalism is more of a factor than in the men's. At least at USD that is the case. Some of that may be that we just have a lot of WBB talent here in the Upper Midwest, so why look any further. Also, programs that rely on transfers a lot will get cut with the double-edge of transfers out. Look at Mooney and Colorado State (Women). I'm sure there are other factor's, like team success, conference strength, access to the tourney, etc.
Seekamp, Trimboli and Fogg were international transfers that really worked out well for us, but we were a contender in the conference, so there was less reason for them to leave. For teams that are not having success, there is less incentive for good players to be farther from home.
The newest WBB commit, Alexi Hempe, is from Northern Virginia. Far outside of our normal recruiting region. I think there are plenty of good players in the conference footprint, so to me that means Alexi really possesses attributes that these coaches are looking for. On the other hand, if we started to lose games, a player like her could start to look at transferring to an east-coast school.
That isn't going to happen, so I think we will be OK.

Well wasn't expecting Bradley to be on this. She will be missed on this team. Enjoyed watching her play.

Definitely did not expect that one. The last sentence is odd to say the least.

Definitely did not expect that one. The last sentence is odd to say the least. I thought that too. I really don't understand this at all unless it's for academic reasons then more power to her.

Mooney transferring was expected but this one is shocking. Always felt like she could've been utilized more in the offense... I wonder if she has the same feeling. Best of luck to her in the future, as long as she doesn't transfer in-conference. She didn't redshirt so I wonder if she graduated in 3 years and can grad transfer or if she'd have to sit a year
