I guess we'll never know what we had in Prevost, but you don't miss what you've never had. Delimont never really had a chance here what with redshirting his freshman year and then suffering the knee injury last year. I remember him from high school in Ainsworth; he can really shoot. Should be a great player at Chadron. I hope they all land on their feet and have a successful college experience.

Very solid looking group! Can go small at guard with Simpson, Kelly or Stensgard or a bit taller with Peterson, Armstrong or Umude.

New article on the MBB roster. Quotes:
"We wanted to add some ball handling along with adding some size and athleticism," Lee said. "We feel good about the help we are getting immediately and in the future with the younger guys."
...Hoffman is a 6-foot guard from Scottsdale, Arizona, where he earned a state championship with Rancho Solano Prep this past season. ...Smith, a 6-3 guard, is a multi-sport athlete from Omaha, Nebraska. ... Cody Kelley [...] will allow Triston to move off the ball. ...We'll also see Nathan Robinson, who is a scorer, play this year. ...senior Logan Power has been awarded a scholarship for his final year with the Coyotes.
"Logan had a great spring and summer, and has been a great representative of not only the basketball program but the University of South Dakota," Lee said. "He has shown a lot of loyalty to the program and we want to reward that with a scholarship. He has a chance to be a big part of what we're doing this year."

It sounds like Kelley will start at PG and Simpson at the 2. I'm curious to see how this turns out, as we won't have much size or shooting prowess in the backcourt along with Peterson. I liked the small ball lineups with Dickerson and Simpson 2 years ago, and think Kelley will be better than Dickerson; however, I believe that was most effective when we needed a spark. I just don't think this will provide enough size or scoring and will be interested to see how Lee melds the two together. Simpson has all the moves and quickness to get open shots and get to the hoop, but he will need to shoot better from 3 and the FT line if he is going to fill some of the void Mooney left behind.

Mooney will be missed, no doubt. It will be interesting to see what the other players do with the opportunity, though. There were some games where he was taking the lion’s share of attempts. Having a point guard that isn’t a shoot-first guy isn’t a bad thing, necessarily. Maybe our guards will rise to the occasion...

The lack of size might be more of an issue on defense, although... Carlton, anyone?

I wonder, too if the Simpson/Kelley combo will be a little undersized but I guess Simpson does add some continuity and appears a little beefed up from last year. Will be interesting to see how Umude and Robinson fit in. I think they'll add some 3 point shooting accuracy we haven't always had. Kelley is on the short side but he does seem strong and athletic. We'll certainly miss Mooney but there'll be some fantastic opportunities for others to step up. Obviously some kinks to work out but overall, I think we'll be better than last year.

Sounds like with the Pride of Norfolk being out, TBM will slide to the 5 and Umude will be at the 4 and Matt Johns will be getting some time along with Harvey. I'm really looking forward to seeing a heavier dose of Stan as he was the recruit I was most excited about last year. He's got good size, athletic, and was a good shooter in HS. This will be a great opportunity for him (and others) to prove himself while Hags is out.

I’ve read a lot of good things about him and it sounds like he can be an electric player.

I am a little surprised to hear about TBM moving to the 5, as he would seem to be terribly undersized. I would have expected Harvey to step in. I realize that Flack was short for the 5 as well, but he had hops and blocking ability that were unmatched. That said, I am very intrigued to see Umude take a step forward. Physically, he is an incredibly intriguing player. I hope he has the game to match.

Totally agree on TBM. Doesn’t have the hops to play 5.

Jay Harvey not listed on roster anymore. Hadn’t been on bench last few games.

I hope he enjoyed his free cost of attendance.
