Western Illinois lost in the last minute last night at Montana State. Statistically they were the better team. They held Montana State to 239 yards. That’s great D. They gained my respect despite the loss. I really like their new head coach. Seems like a players coach. Leatherneckcountry could chime in on that.

I was following this game on Yahoo sports app. When I looked at the stats in the first half, it showed that WIU was leading on the scoreboard but getting absolutely dominated in yardage, first downs, and every other stat. Now, the app could have been wrong because in the second half the stats completely flipped, maybe their was an error and they were corrected? Anyway, yes, very difficult to travel that far west on a Thursday night for a game. Would have been nice for the MVFC to come out of that with a win but I would have to say that WIU represented well.

Bison 42-3 in the third. They can’t stop Bruce Anderson. Bison defense is pretty stingy.
I think they said Butler beat YSU!

How about those penguins they looked great today. Yeah, but the Pioneer League sucks, right? Dead end conference.

It looks my analysis of YSU isn’t anywhere near close to being right. ElCoyote questioned me when I made the prediction and he appears to be correct.
It appears the higher power still has a fondness for SDSU because the Cyclones were going to light them up. The game didn’t go long enough for them to have one cramp. Imagine that

Was the Missouri valley 0-2 against the Big Sky this weekend?

WIU and UNI lost by identical 26-23 scores out in Montana. NDSU beat the snot out of Cal Poly. So 1-2.
Two 3 point losses at the traditional BSC powers in Montana isn't too bad. Play them over here and they are probably wins.

All in all, not a great start for MVFC, IMO. Looking like the 'taking a step back' narrative for the conference is legit.

Might be more of a game than people think. I’m hoping my sarcasm was not too subtle. Now that the Pioneer has a playoff auto-bid, there’s at least a tangible reward for winning in that conference.

No, it wasn’t. in fact I employed it myself when I said it wasn’t that bad.
The non-scholarships are competitive and have made appearances in the natty. UND fans were thrilled to beat Drake. NDSU fans sold out the FFD for Valparaiso.
I was tongue in cheek because I believe Summit non scholarship football could open the door to more full Summit memberships helping everyone.

Pray tell me, which of these teams is a non-scholarship: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Football_Championship#ChampionsThe Pioneer League didn't win a playoff game until 2016. They won one again in 2017. I don't know of any other non-scholarship leagues out there.

You are correct in pointing out my error.
