After a couple weeks of play here is how UND stacks up against The Valley this morning:
PREDICTED RECORD: 3-7
L : UND vs SIU predicted UND 33 SIU 35 W : UND vs MSU predicted UND 31 MSU 30 (I had this score transposed) W : UND vs UNI predicted UND 28 UNI 20 W : UND vs YSU predicted UND 26 YSU 24 L : UND vs NDSU predicted UND 13 NDSU 38 L : UND vs ISUb predicted UND 18 ISUb 27 L : UND vs WIU predicted UND 15 WIU 27 L : UND vs SDSU predicted UND 13 SDSU 36 (using SDSUs Montana game) L : UND vs USD predicted UND 24 USD 25 L : UND VS ISUr predicted UND 13 ISUr 36
At first I put it up as UND vs. USDs schedule. I then added the other teams to bring it to 10 and removed dates and location. Looking at it again I saw the UND/MSU score was transposed. It is UND by 1, not MSU.

Its Idaho State @ UND this Saturday
PREDICTED WINNER: UND SPREAD: UND -2 OVER/UNDER: 40 MYTHICAL SCORE: UND 21 ISU 19
ISU has to travel to Grand Forks and that seems to be to the advantage of UND. Although in pure numbers ISU is a 1 point favorite after home field it goes to UND by 2.
AT 40 the OU is low but Im still inclinded to go under. It's possible ISU gets shut down. If they do I dont think we will see 40. It wil have to be a rather high scoring close game to go over like 21-22 ISU with a last second field goal or something.
Im taking UND to cover and the under. Route potenial seems to be in UNDs favor. Their performance at Washington was not impressive but they didn't get knocked around. A route is 21 points or more. I really don't see either team winning by that amount.

The statistics just dont lie. UND came out like gangbusters but Idaho State was no pushover. In what was and exciting and wide open game ISU won 25-21. For half of third and most of the 4th the score stood at ISU 19 UND 21.
UND is going to have a tough time winning. They allow too many yards. It was an exciting game and fun to watch.

9/29/18 UND @ UNC BEARS FCS UPDATE *****BETTING LINE NOTIFICATION******
PREDICTED WINNER: UNC SPREAD: UNC -1 OVER/UNDER: 55 MYTHICAL SCORE: UND 27 UNC 28
Somebody told me UND was a 3 point underdog on 5 dimes. These teams go in even. It's UNDs rushing game vs. UNCs passing game. Where ever you look except for the rushing stats UNC has a slight advantage. They have to slow the UND running game down a bit.
Home field for UNC is +3. Without it you are looking at a UND 27 UNC 25 game. This one is close. O-4 Bears at home has to mean something for motivation. The 2 home games have been close, the 2 road games not so much
UND is not spectacularly coached. Their starting QB was a deep bench warmer at Sac State, a team that beat UNC at home earlier this year by 3, 25-28. With Sac State's 3 string QB starting can UND do as well as Sac State in Greely?

I heard somewhere that UNC's starting QB was hurt in the Weber State game and out for the season now. Not 100% definite on this, but that would sure put a monkey wrench in UNC's season. I thought he was really impressive in the USD game a few weeks ago.

I was about to stand up for UND because they won at Sam Houston State, but then I checked their schedule and SHSU's other two games were horrible. Don't think we'll be seeing them in the playoffs this year.

Tough break - he was good.

They were still able to pass against Weber with 262 yds. Weber only had 186 yds. Both had 3 tds passing. UNC allowed a 95 yd run from scrimmage and a returned kickoff to seal their fate.
UNC pass defense has been a sieve but the Weber game last week was one of their best afternoons signaling a possible turn around.
UND could do some real damage to UNCs hopes if they get the running game going. That might open up the pass for them. Unds QB may be a third stringer from Sac State but you still have to be capable to hold that position. He has some decent receivers as well.
The way I see it, it could be a wide open fun game. It’s so close the alleged home field advantage is the intangible edge for the Bears.

17-7 UND. The Hawks are looking good and moving the ball. From what I have seen the UNC defense is worse than it was.

It’s 24-7 at the half. UND has the running game on fire. It seems like UNC is losing confidence and becoming tentative.

10/13 University of Montana @ UN
Updated at 12:40 pm for a change in UND statistics:
PREDICTED WINNER: Montana SPREAD: -4 OVER/UNDER: 54 MYTHICAL SCORE: UM 29 UND 25
Big excitement in grand forks. Idaho State won! This gives the Hawks another quality loss. Combined with their win over winless UNC they certainly feel they are on the playoff bubble and have even taken time to tweak the nose of mighty Alabama. Yes they have an Alabama look-a-like thread.
in their excitement it was explained that NDSU was only good because they drained money from other sports and from academics. That of course is not true. What is true? UND completely eliminated women’s hockey and Baseball because they truly could not afford a move to D1. They should have stayed D2 like all the schools their size trying to fund a D1 hockey team.
UND was aware of that. They convinced the NCC to stay D2 while the Mighty Dakota Land Grants made the move. In the end their pride caused them to turn their back on the NCC and make a hurried and poorly planned application to transition on the last day allowed by the NCAA. In their desperation UND misleads the NCC and ended any hope of the conference moving up as a whole. The Mighty Land Grants were even willing to wait
In a a lot of ways the hockey rink up there really cost them. Through several different, and significant, revenue streams, they are paying for the entire building over its 30 year economic life. For example they sacrifice a material share of ticket revenues from all sports to help pay for it. This causes shortages in those programs resulting in small staffs, lower tier coaches and all kinds of corner cutting ending up in a fund raiser for basic items like tape and braces.
The Englesteads are all over that university. For the upfront cost of an arena they will drain UND of significant revenues for 30 years. As a tenant UND is helpless.
Football will be next if they are forced into more cuts. Montana is visiting gf next week. Can unds underfunded football team challenge Montana’s scandle rocked neutered squad? The GAM will give us a clue.

Enough of this. UND is a fine school with a decent football program. They will suffer their lumps when they enter this conference but they will be a good addition in the long run.

I don’t want to be disrespectful but I also am tired of all the UND and NDSU talk. I thoroughly enjoy how you analyze the games in the Valley and your insight into matchups. But wished you would curtail all the UND rhetoric. Sorry

With all the UND trolling going on I almost forgot what this thread is about. Here is how UND stacks up against The Valley this week: This weeks UND team goes 3-4-2 in the Valley. They are getting stronger vs. the Valley teams. They have a good running game and they are leveraging that. Their defense rises to average in the Valley. UND vs: | W/L | SCORE |
| | MSU | T | 27-27 |
| | UNI | L | 26-24 |
| | YSU | W | 26-25 |
| | NDSU | L | 36-19 |
| | IUSB | W | 34-27 |
| | WIU | W | 28-24 |
| | SDSU | L | 37-24 |
| | USD | T | 26-26 |
| | ISUR | L | 30-19 |
| |
| | | | |
I watch 4 games every week, if I can: NDSU, SDSU, USD and UND. These are the primary rivals in the Dakotas.
