Massey has us winning 81-63, but they are using mostly last year's data, I think. This game will be tough for Lee's team at this point in their development.

NAU went 5-27 last year. If we struggle I'll be pretty concerned.

NAU went 5-27 last year. If we struggle I'll be pretty concerned. True, but they have a completely different line-up with tons of transfer players. Hard to really gauge using last year's record. The Coyotes are now up 40-31 at the half, so you might be right.

Still feel like we should be able to take control of this one down the stretch.

Yeah, I doubt they will be last in the Big Sky again. They look good and athletic individually, but aren't super cohesive yet. (kind of like us)

I really wish the men would go to quarters. The last 9 min of the game is all foul shots. Ugh.

90-74 win! The men looked really good at times, but allowed lots of 3's.

Great to see the Yotes take control down the stretch. A good performance overall. I really hope we can count on Armstrong to contribute even close to how he did tonight. We've seen it before in flashes.
Tonight we had 7 bench points, all from Umude. While it's nice to see him scoring in meaningful minutes I'm concerned we don't have much depth. 30 minutes from your bench isn't a whole lot.
Onto the Bahamas where we kick off against High Point and Tubby Smith. Is there anyone that has had more D1 head coaching jobs than that guy? High Point is his alma mater. Pretty crazy that they've got a coach who has actually won a national championship.

The lack of depth so far is a concern. Hopefully we will get more contributions as the season goes on and Lee just wants to rely on the more experienced players early in the season. As hard as they play and the minutes that the starters log I could see us struggle in situations where we play several games in a short period of time.
I agree with others who feel that UNA will be much improved this year. I sure hope that was better than a 5 win team that we played. I actually thought we looked pretty good. I felt we had some tough foul calls when contesting their 3 pointers.
Do we have any kind of timeline on hagedorns return?

NAU isn't any five win team this season. #4 is a transfer and that guy was as good a guard as we should see in conference. Their team stats from last year were in the program and most of this years big starters weren't even on the roster. Robinson and Johns got some quality minutes, but didn't try to do too much. I figure it's freshmen still getting their feet wet. They should come along. I remember Tyler Peterson at the beginning of his freshman year not really being in the flow. I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of playing time from Harvey. If Hagedorn is out for any length of time he would be a valuable asset if for nothing else than a big body on defense and on the boards. One thing I really do like is that we do play exceptionally hard. Can't fault a 16 point win and if NAU hadn't hit five three pointers in a row in the middle of the second half it would have been a runaway. Agree with kiyoat, The men need to go to quarters too. I think I heard somewhere that they're being used in a few early tournaments here and there this season so maybe there's hope that quarters will be utilized in full next season.

I'm liking Lee the more I hear from him. Seems a bit more thoughtful than most. Things will be rough until Hagedoorn returns, but at least Lee expects him back this year.

Lee isn’t one of those coaches that gives you a bunch of coach-speak that doesn’t really tell you anything. He gives you the good, the bad and the ugly, and doesn’t hold back. Hopefully reporters don’t take advantage of his honesty and quote him out-of-context.
Personally I love it. Think of some other coaches that fit this mold of blunt honesty. Mike Leach comes to mind.
