Hey City. I was bit snarky earlier!!! I was in the wrong!!! You have the right to bring your observations forward. That is just another reason why this is a great fan board. I will just keep my comments to myself going forward.

No worries at all. And by all means, comment away.

Western Illinois is on a 4 game win streak while ranking #19 in 3 pointers/game. The win streak is a little deceiving as it has been against the bottom 4 in the conference. They are 12-13 on the season but 8-3 and home. Not a great deal of height and thus not much of an inside game. Man defense may be the best on this game to defend the 3 point line as they attempt near 30 per game.

Keep it up and you just might make it into the top 3 this year, but, alas, we'd have to get someone new to do the rankings. I'm not giving up my place without a fight.

I'd feel way better about everybody's focus if they'd quit falling asleep against shooters all the time, the coaching staff would have figured out that playing that zone on Saturday was a horrible idea about 5 minutes quicker than they did and it wouldn't have taken until the fourth quarter to figure out you need to get your leading scorer some shots. ORU was all over Ciara early in that game. There were no shots to be had. The reason they were there in the 4th was because people like Chloe, Maddie forced ORU to loosen up on #24.

Not exactly murderer's row. WIU is scary in that if you catch them on a night where they get hot they can really score. Coaching staff has told me that WIU has gotten away from its trademark zone and is now playing man. We'll see how long that lasts against USD, considering how dominant they were inside the first time around. May depend a little on how close Hannah is to 100%.

Anyone have any more information on how Hannah and Chloe are feeling?

Yeah, looking at WIU's schedule, they might finish the season 0-4 and slide into the 5th seed. Even if Hannah isn't 100%, I still felt like in the last game Frederick and Peplowski were almost scoring at-will in the paint on the Leathernecks.

Oral Roberts has just about as much ability to create a “no shots to be had” scenario for Duffy as it does the ability to force USD to zone them. Simply shouldn’t happen. If it does, it’s far more a failure on the Yotes’ part than anything ORU did. Simple fact of the matter is that the U trailed for most of that game because their most versatile weapon had five shots in the first three quarters, regardless of if we think shots were “there to be had” or not. That will spell doom against a good team and the coaching staff knows it.

Ya I'd have to take cityleague's side again on this one. Didn't seem like we were doing a great job getting Duffy or Arens good touches early. Perhaps this is partly due to ORU. Arens took some contested 3's early, but we didn't do a great job setting her up. And same with Duffy. Duffy's our best passer/playermaker and maybe they were denying her the ball, but our possessions are much better when she's running stuff. I'm sure the coaches recognized that though, since both had much more involvement in the fourth.

#24 Michigan State, #23 Rutgers, and #21 Florida State all lost to unranked teams last night. Let's climb the polls!

Top 25 thoughts:
The week prior to cracking the top 25 we went from being on 5 ballots to 10 ballots. Now in the top 25 we have gone from being on 10 ballots to being on 16. That looks like strong momentum. There are 28 ballots in total and I am curious to see how many more we are on tomorrow as voters take notice of USD.
The results around us in the polls are essentially as favorable as possible:
#27 UCF lost to Tulane and are getting smashed by #4 UConn right now. #26 Utah lost to Arizona to run up a 5-game losing streak. They play #19 Arizona State today. #25 USD #24 Michigan State lost to Wisconsin. They play Nebraska today. #23 Rutgers lost to Ohio State. #22 Texas A&M defeated LSU. They trail 34-29 in the 2nd against #5 Mississippi State (who lost to Mizzou this week). #21 Florida State lost to Clemson. They are currently leading (last place) Pitt 30-14 in the 2nd quarter.
That's one win against an unranked team and five losses to unranked teams by the teams near us in the polls. We are going to get some of those votes UCF and Utah had, and I should think we pass up at least Michigan State and Rutgers.
One other tidbit that might be worth mentioning is that #13 Gonzaga lost to unranked BYU. They are the only other mid-major team in the top 25.
