The stakes just got even higher. Unreal.

We made it onto 24/28 ballots this week. Love to see the increasing recognition. Even the Minneapolis Star Tribune rep voted for us! Of course it was just 24th, but one spot in front of their Gophers (who only have 11 votes). Someone needs to send a gift basket to the Laramie voter that has us at 17.
As expected, we passed Rutgers and Michigan State. I also figured we would close the gap on Florida State and Texas A&M. We went from trailing them by 104 and 84 votes to 27 and 16, respectively.
At any rate, our fun with polls faces two tall tasks this week. Need to avenge the lone conference loss, and win in Brookings. If this team isn't laser focused for both games then they deserve to lose. That being said, Denver at home should be a near-guaranteed win and I feel like we were much better than the box score showed against sdsu. Having won 2 of the last 3 up there doesn't hurt.
I hope to making another post on Sunday night about our chances to crack the top 20.

Looks like USD (23 points) and SDSU (22 points) are both just outside the rankings this week. That's a great spot for both of us to be ranked by the time we play each other again...

Really wonder how voters are chosen. Someone must have voted Minnesota as the #21 team in the country (they got 4 points). And they are outside the top 100 in RPI.

I think Summit League WBB will have another breakthrough this year. There will be two teams ranked in the final regular season poll. There are just a few things that will need to happen. 1) SDSU has to beat Western Illinois. 2) USD has to beat both UND and NDSU at home.
and then there are several possible scenario's.
#22 Florida State loses to #17 Syracuse. #21 Arizona State Loses to either/both #9 Oregon State or #6 Oregon. #20 Iowa State loses to #18 Texas. #19 Texas A&M loses to #11 Kentucky #18 Texas loses to #1 Baylor and #20 Iowa State. #17 Syracuse loses to #4 Notre Dame and/or #22 Florida State.
If Syracuse or Texas loses both games, they will drop out. If they lose one game, they might stay ahead of SDSU and USD. If either of them beat the team that is ranked in the 20's, SDSU and USD should jump ahead of them. I do not know if #19 Texas A&M or #20 Iowa State will drop below SDSU and USD if they just lose one game to a ranked team. I think enough will happen that both teams are ranked. I do not see how they could leave a ranked team out of the NCAA tournament.

They usually have all 28 voters and their polls on the site, so you can see what's going on, but this week I just see the rankings themselves.

AP Top 25 watch:
#20 Iowa State - Beat Texas Tech. Play #18 Texas tonight. #21 Arizona State - Beat #9 Oregon State #22 Florida State - Lost to #17 Syracuse #23 Drake - Beat Southern Illinois #24 Rice - Beat Louisiana Tech #25 UCLA - Beat Utah #26 USD #27 sdsu
Maybe we jump Florida State? I'm expecting to stay at 26. There should be at least one more poll released the day of the SLT semis.

I guess one more team to look at is #18 Texas. They lost 64-35 to #1 Baylor and are down 42-23 at halftime to #20 Iowa State. I don't know if that would be enough to drop them from the top 25 though.

I confused myself and forgot to include today's games to keep an eye on:
#22 Flordia State at Georgia Tech #23 Drake at Missouri State (winner likely takes MVC title) #25 UCLA hosting Colorado

USD lost 1 vote, putting the two SD schools in a tie for 26.

Makes sense...win two games, lose a vote.

Makes sense...win two games, lose a vote. While I believe we should be firmly inside the top 25, especially after watching parts of games from power conference teams keeping us out, there were zero losses by any of the teams near us in the polls. All wins were better than ours.
