I glad you put this out for most people don't know or understand how hockey dominates Und athletic department and there is no extra revenue coming to other sports in UND athletics. Und hockey is competing at power 5 level like in football where there is very elite level of teams that are in play for national championship and players playing at these schools are only there for limited number years until they turn pro. This demands large financial resources to compete and acquire talent compared to its other sports. It didn't help when previous presidents got in feud with Engelstad family to point where they weren't even talking. Then you add in the nickname controversy with alumni and that damage for fund raising is still out there is it any wonder the Athletic department has sufferred. What is needed is new complex to be built that is controlled by University for Basketball, Volleyball, and tennis but i don't think that's going to happen anytime soon with this AD or Administration. Summit is ahead of the Big Sky in women's basketball and volleyball but i believe that to because of location and two South Dakota schools how Summit is configured for conference tournaments. At the mens level i would guess there fairly close depending on the years. Even with all that said i believe UND is still going to be factor in the Summit in next few years because state college sports and transfer rules leveling the field for all small mid-majors by constant drain of talent by large schools.
