I was kind of hoping SDSU would beat Nebraska - I didn't like how they got rid of Miles, and then more or less pushed most of the players out. So of course it is Huskers 36 Rabbits 14. Nebraska has eaten plenty of sh*t already this year. Take solace in that and the more that will come. Don't ever pull for state.

Some scores from this week:
NDSU 76 Texas-Rio Grande Valley 70 Iowa 87 Oral Roberts 74 Miami OH 84 Fort Wayne 80 UT Martin 98 WIU 91 Colorado State 80 UNO 65
NDSU continues to look really unimpressive as they squeak by poor competition.
Oral Roberts is hanging tough with some good opponents, but don't have any results to show for it.
Fort Wayne looks like they'll at least be a middle of the pack team this year.
Not sure what to make of UNO yet. They'll be tough, but not sure how tough.

Is there a meaningful 'conference ranking' at this point of the year? Feels like SL WBB is struggling more than expected, which could make the RPI hit bigger than normal this year.

Stick with W. Nolan.

States women just whipped the #20/#21 ranked team, southern Florida. Sucks that they are good enough this year to do that, but at least it is a good win for the conference.

I'm typically pretty skeptical of rankings of teams like USF - ranked because they beat a pre-season-ranked team that turned out to not be very good. I wouldn't be surprised if they go 0-3 in this event. (Probably a mid-major bias....) That said, SDSU still appears 'offensively challenged' - it turns out today USF went 4-29 (14%) for 3-pointers. That won't win many games. I think SDSU can beat a depleted Notre Dame tomorrow, but would guess they may struggle with FGCU.

If I remember correctly the highest finish the conference has had was #11 a number of years ago. Just a point of reference for comparison. I think a more typical finish is around 18? That’s for the women’s teams. On the Men’s side I think low 20s is more typical. That’s just off the top of my head. Could be a little off.

Should be another great competition again tis year. Both Massey and Realtimerpi are predicting that the Jacks and Coyotes will both go 15-1 in conference play. Will be fun as usual.

There is a current ESPN article about how Notre Dame WBB is trending to miss the NCAA tournament. They appear to be currently struggling, but still a solid win for SDSU. The goal is always to win the next game on the schedule. Now time to go 1-0 against Northern Illinois tomorrow. Go get them Yotes!!

Interesting fact--
The Lady Yotes are 2-0 against Notre Dame from back in the 70s!!
Of course my Irish friend says that's because nuns were playing then.

USD beating Ohio St. wasn't an upset, and SDSU beating ND today wasn't one either. ND doesn't have enough healthy scholarship players to play a pick up game, and that comes after their entire starting 5 from last year is gone. Even worse, most of those injuries they are having were season-ending. Going to be a long year for them.
