Do you want some insight as to what kind of program this has become? We’re all familiar with the on court success they’ve had and I thoroughly believe they’ll continue to have. What you may not know are some things this staff has done, is doing, and plan to do to make these kids ( young adults...sorry. Kids to me ) better in the game of life.
Just this week, all four of the new freshman plus the transfer from Oklahoma spent a good portion of the afternoon with an 86 lady, that’s a huge Coyote fan, to fill some alone time with a chance to get to know these gals and interact with them for a good portion of an afternoon. They asked her all sorts of questions about how life was years ago, why she lives in Vermillion, her family, etc. And as if that wasn’t enough, they asked her if she would teach them to knit. Which she darn near jumped out of her chair to say yes.
This is the platform that Coach P has built. Giving back. Humbly. Put yourself in that woman’s shoes and tell me those gals didn’t change her life. She now knows them by name so when she watches games it’s far more personal. What those ladies did for her are off the charts.
To the young players that lifted the spirits of a fan that truly loves you, congrats on being so cool. You’ll never know or fully understand what that meant to her. I do, and I’m grateful you’re all Coyotes. This team is easy to get behind and support.
