Omaha got swept by a good Iowa State team on Saturday, but bounced back to sweep Drake today.
Good showing as a group.

Denver got swept at home by a very good Northern Colorado team last night. Probably won’t be getting votes in the AVCA poll next week. Shoot

The state of Colorado has great JO volleyball. One of the predominant clubs out there is Front Range volleyball, or at least it was a few years back. That club develops several D1 players and the word I’ve gotten back is more of those kids stayed closer to home. So UNC having a good team is not surprising.

Lots of Summit non-con scores, but I'll just make a general observation:
It looks to me like there are three tiers forming:
Top tier/ contenders (not in any order, but USD is probably the bottom at this point in time) Denver KC Omaha USD
Middle tier/ challengers (not in any order) NDSU SDSU ORU
Bottom tier (not in order) UND UST WIU
This year the gap between the middle and bottom is widening and the gap from the top to middle seems to be tightening somewhat.
The main surprise to me is that SDSU has played really well, even considering their poor scheduling. They have swept several lesser opponents and beaten a few 50/50 type opponents. They look like a team that wants to keep improving their position in the conference. Not to be overlooked. That coach has done a lot in a short period of time.
While I'm conflicted in saying so, this is good for the conference national profile to have the middle of the conference improving. It's probably good for the sport in the state of SD as well, with regard to fan interest and youth participation. They still have a ways to go to catch up to USD, but they might be a more worthy rival opponent this year than last.

NDSU beat Cal 3-1 this weekend. That's the biggest upset I see.

No big surprises after Thursday's matches. The only non-sweep was KC @ NDSU (KC won 3-1) That had some competitive sets, extra points. Could have easily been a 5-set match. I think NDSU and SDSU are closing the gap between the top and middle tiers. Should make for some competitive matches in the SCSC tonight and Tuesday!

Denver just swept the Roos in KC. Looking like a front-runner…

A couple things happened in the league. But ND being upset by UST is I think my favorite.

Yup, first D-1 League win for them. They will have another good opportunity soon, playing Western next week, I think.
I'm disappointed SDSU wasn't able to upset KC, losing in a sweep. NDSU had to go five sets to beat Western. Yikes. Right now USD is playing like a middle-tier team. Not sure how good ORU really is, but maybe they will upset Omaha, KC or Denver? We will need them to.

Omaha beat Denver at home in 4 sets! Looks like Denver hit a speedbump on its way to cruising to another regular season title. If we can get back on track, this team has the talent to compete for a title. Plenty of matches left.
