Just getting the thread started early. No reason not to. I won't be able to contribute much until later on this week, but let's start the discussion. Much more of a mismatch this year on the men's side, but never count out the underdog in a rivalry game....

Need a hot shooting night from the 'Yotes and a cold shooting night from the bunnies which totally goes against each team's MO. We'll compete hard, but the bunnies just might have too many offensive weapons. The lower the score the better for us as SDSU doesn't seem to be too interested in playing defense. If we're cold from three-point range, it'll be trouble. The game being at Frost doesn't help our chances either.

It sure seems like both home teams this weekend are pretty big favorites. But weird things happen in rivalry games, so you never know. When the game starts Saturday, it will have been 2.5 weeks since the Yotes last played. For a group that is really still figuring out some roles, that is not a good scenario. Hopefully it will help then play looser and freer. If KPH, Archambault, and Tasos hit a couple 3's early (Tasos to pull the defense out of the paint), maybe they get some confidence and keep things tight throughout.

I can see this one getting pretty ugly actually. I expect the Jacks to win by about 20. If the Yotes play well maybe 10.

I don’t think we have the firepower to win this game, especially in Frost. Last year we snuck a win away for the first time in decades but we had an entire team on the floor. Right now we’re missing AJ’s presence and I think that’ll show during the game. SDSU is playing really well as always and it’s gonna take impressive performances from the entire team to pull this one out. SDSU is the one MBB team that never seems to be going through rebuilding phases.

I hate to be negative, but the current situation is about as bad as it can get before playing a rival on the road. The only positive perspective is that this is happening late December/early January instead of in March.

Judging by Jay's interview, we will be fortunate to get any meaningful game prep in this week. Pile that on top of every other reason why I'm ready for this one to be over already.

From today's Argus: "The Coyotes had their first practice back as a (slightly smaller) unit Monday with the eight players that Lee said will be active for the games. They are missing one starter currently and the injured players that Lee said the team is waiting on don't all just have minor injuries that will take a few days to recover from, so Lee said he doesn't expect the team's numbers to improve by Saturday."
What are the chances no one else tests positive before Saturday? (8 is the minimum # of players you can have)
If there is a game, I think there are three things you can count on: 1) The random squad that plays for USD will give it everything, but be really out-manned and out of shape 2) This gives someone a chance to step-up in a different way (scoring, playing time, leadership) 3) SDSU fans will complain bitterly about the officials

When is come to State fans, win or lose, you still hear the boos.

When is come to State fans, win or lose, you still hear the *moos. You had a typo so I corrected it for you. It’s going to be a rough game, but I’ll still watch it until the end though. I feel like we’ve been plagued with injuries each season since Lee began and now Covid. While obviously not his fault we just can’t seem to catch a break.

So the game is a 'go' at this point. Honestly, I think that is the first unexpected upset of the day. Maybe the players who make the trip north can keep that momentum going for a second upset of the day? Given the numbers, I wonder if they are just riding up in one of the coach's minivans?

What I find remarkable is the fact that SDSU has never reported a positive Covid test in football or men's and women's basketball. I'm all for firing Fauci and hiring Stiggledick as new head of the CDC.

I'm all for firing Fauci and hiring Stiggledick as new head of the CDC. No “reported” cases. I know quite well a family member of one of their prominent football players that says they did, in fact, have positive cases during the spring season. Hard to believe because Stigeljoose is of such high moral character, right?

Welp. Less than 2 minutes in and it is 9-0. You can hardly tell that this team hasn't practiced in weeks.
