Stan played about 30 minutes his entire freshman year. But I do agree. You beat me to it. I looked it up, and he averaged 3.4 minutes and 1.1 ppg, while appearing in 14 games as a freshman. I recall their being frustration among the fans over the fact that he didn't redshirt that year. He was a total non-factor. Similar to us pulling Keaton Kutschers red shirt this year only for him to play a few minutes and get injured. Last night when the game was pretty solidly out of our reach he should’ve been put in. Not with just a few minutes remaining. Put him in for a half and let him get a feel for the environment and help develop him.

I don’t disagree with any of that. I just get sick of the comments about their fans having the good seats so why bother coming, etc. heard some of that in the alumni room and I just don’t buy it anymore. It’s an excuse. The upper level was 90% jacks fans. Again, they expected to win last night and rightfully so. But, the opportunities to support our teams are certainly there. Yup. Exactly. Any remaining excuses (from USD or any other fan base) are now gone with the new yearly re-seating and team allotment policies. If you want to sit in the middle sections, get on the ball and get your tickets when they come out. There was a decent amount of red in the middle, at least on one side. If you want to sit in the lower bowl, there are now multiple pathways and multiple opportunities to do that for a fan of any team. The players can hear you just as good if you are sitting in the center sections, or in the corner. And the view really isn't that bad from the ends and corners unless you are super particular. And if you are, then get in on those early sales. No excuses. Personally, I think the AD department has done a great job of promoting Yote attendance at the SLT. The student bus, the hospitality room, and tons of other things I'm not thinking of. The only missing ingredient is a consistently winning Men's team. And IMHO I think the Yote turnout, while obviously smaller than blue, is as good or better than it's ever been. The 124/101 corner and the 106/107/108 corner are 75% to 90% red. That's great! If you absolutely can's stand to be surrounded by booing blue fans, there is now an option for that as well. So let's stop crying about it and celebrate the progress that has already been made. Go Yotes!

Stan played about 30 minutes his entire freshman year. But I do agree. Whoops, my bad. Man, that makes our recruiting look even worse. Have we had a freshman in the D1 era that has contributed anything close to the list of guys that sdsu has had? I can't think of a single one for us.

any yotes fans coming to cheer for ndsu 2nite? I'm sure some will, but unlike sdsu fans we have lives outside of sticking around to cheer against our rival (not that we feel much warmer towards the Bison).

Beyond that....Jake Thomas was great that one year...

We need to recruit better and we need better support from coyote fans in Sioux Falls. It seems like every year sdsu has a true frosh come in that plays a significant role. Then they turn into Coyote killers for 3-4 years First it was Daum, then Jenkins, then Wilson, then Friedel, now the Mayo kid. When is the last time we had a freshman play a significant role and really be a foundational player for us for several years? It happens all over the country it seems, just not in Vermillion. Stan played as a true freshman, but we had Mooney who dominated the ball and he didn't get a lot of opportunity. Have we been to focused on transfer players? Too hesitant to let young guys play a big role? Not to rain on your roll, but Wilson was actually a JUCO transfer.
