Surprised they got rid of him. Faced a lot of uphill battles the last 2 years. Hope the administration doesn’t regret this.

Seems like a move you make if you know who is going to replace him, or if he reeeeaaally messed up behind the scenes.
I'm stunned to see it, but here for it.

Would agree that it seems like they must have somebody waiting in the wings. Also agree that it feels like it has to extend off the court to some degree.

Very surprised, but maybe the Administration was just not liking the direction of the recruiting, as many here have said. Recruiting is everything in a sport like this, I suppose. A coach needs to show something there within a short period of time these days.
I really like Lee as a coach, though. And a human. Honest dude. Maybe too honest for this business.
Here's the tweet:

I gotta say that this is not at all the source I would expect to be breaking news like this. The tweet reads like Todd Lee bitterly defending himself in the face of scrutiny, honestly.

Nothing being reported by USD at this point that I can see. Very interesting.

Ok I’ll be honest, I thought USD could do better with Lee gone. But this seems weird, I thought for sure they’d give him one more year. Brings up the next question, who’s waiting in the wings to replace him? Cause that’s what this seems like.

The list of possible replacements has to begin with ...
Sundance Wicks at Wyoming Joe Krabbenhoft at Wisconsin

Well it’s official on the site now. Let’s get ourselves a stud recruiter and I hope Casey K gets to stick around.

This is so incredibly f@#king stupid. Wonder whose bright idea this was? Way to kick yourself in your own ass USD. Only acceptable reason would be off court conduct and I haven't heard of anything besides that incident a few years ago. It's really hard to keep secrets in this town too.

I know this is a "Lee is fired" thread, but does anyone have any inside info on a replacement? If recruiting was the deficiency, then a D-1 Assistant Coach that's a hot recruiter and wants a shot at HC might be a good choice. Especially one that knows the midwest region?
What about Joe Krabbenhoft? I'm not a fan of his dad, but the fact remains that he is an ace recruiter for Wisconsin.

Well it’s official on the site now. Let’s get ourselves a stud recruiter and I hope Casey K gets to stick around. I think that keeping Casey on staff might be pretty critical with the recruiting he has done recently. Without that, you basically start over from scratch. We'd better be OK with more JUCO, transfer and international players in the short-term. Coaches without local recruiting ties are a little behind the 8-ball, I think. Hell, A.J. could transfer out. If the previous recruiting region isn't too far away, maybe we see the coach bring some players along with him, or at least some recruits?
