When I'm having a bad day at work and I need a good laugh, I go and read the SDSU message board. I was reading the thread about Peterson being hired and one of the posters had this to say, "It’s so satisfying seeing pictures of SDSU shooting around in preparation for an NCAA tournament game while our little brothers try and provide some hope for their program with a brand new head coach." It reminds me of the comment about being the 65th best team in Women's basketball when we won the NIT. I often get asked during my travels if I cheer for all SD teams in the NCAA tournament and I'm more than happy to say, "Hell no" and I'm guessing 97.3% of school up north fans would say the same.

Rarely visit that site anymore but was just bopping around over there after reading your post and came across this gem in the Todd Lee Fired thread:
"I think SDSU is extremely lucky that our football and basketball programs have gone 30+ years without having to let go of a coach due to scandal or lack of success"
LOL. Got Joose?
They really are a special bunch. They just cover up the scandals.

Would be great if Pete would give us an update on his staff. I am hearing that Casey was the only assistant that was retained

All of the old staff is still listed. Have no idea if that's because they just haven't bothered to change it, or they're being retained. Might lean toward the former.

State just has a drunk for a football coach and a womens coach nobody wants. Years ago an athletic director that knocked his wife around . Great role models. A womens coach no one wants…lol Troll away, I forgot your programs are perfect…at least you haven’t had to fire a baseball coach lately(sarcasm). I’ve always considered myself a logical fan and appreciative of other programs successes. The success that USD has is good for the state and it forces each program to push harder. I get there are delusional and crap fans in each fan base…but lately the trolling from this site is laughable at best. It’s like you guys have nothing better to do. Celebrate your new coaches and the current players who’ve decided to stay and not bail, save trashiness for the summer. I’ll see myself out with this rather be dead than red. See you in October(corrected), that is if you guys don’t back out on the game.

South Dakota head men's basketball coach Eric Peterson announced the addition of Brandon Ubel to his coaching staff Tuesday. Ubel (pronounced YOU-bell) played collegiate basketball at Nebraska, spent five years playing professional basketball overseas, and has been a part of Craig Smith's staff for the last three seasons.

See you in November, that is if you guys don’t back out on the game. I think the post you quoted was misplaced and in poor taste. Game is in early October though. Not sure why we would bail on a winning streak and maybe the first time in at least 20 years USD plays in Brookings with a temp above freezing. You'll even get to use that as an excuse when your team falls flat.

I was surprised to see this. I'm sure it's a promotion for Ubel, but just wouldn't have expected Peterson to draw anyone from Smith's staff. Sounds like a good hire to go with Kasperbauer too.
