Anyone going down? Thoughts on who will win? Thoughts on new stadium compared to Rosenblatt?
I'm going to Saturday's games. Going for North Carolina this year. But I think Florida may be the best team. The NC, Vande, TX, Florida side of the bracket is stacked. Anyone of those could win. Virginia has to be smiling facing Cal.
I'm curious how tailgating will be affected by the new stadium. Traffic will be bad with the flood affecting travel routes.
If you have never been to the CWS then you need to GO. We've been going for about 18 years and it just gets better and better. LSU fans are the best. If you have ever been there you know what I mean.

I was skeptical of the new stadium as I loved Rosenblatt, but all I can say right now is AWESOME. Will go into more detail later.

For those baseball fans out there the CWS is the place to go every summer. TD Ameritrade Field is great. The seats have great site lines. Amenities are top knotch. The concourse is large and you can walk around the whole stadium and still watch the game. Or, sometimes more important, on a hot day stand behind home plate in the shade instead of sitting in the outfield.
The only downside is parking is more spread out so that means tailgating is spread out. That also makes the Old Mattress bar and surrounding area the place to be. I wonder who owns that? It's not the mayor of Omaha is it? They might as well print money the week of CWS at that bar cause they are raking it in.
A couple of observations. In afternoon games there is less shade than Rosenblatt. In evening games there is more shade than Rosenblatt. At Rosenblatt right field looked into the sun. They shifted the stadium so now left field looks into the sun. You want to be in sections 100-116 (from a shade standpoint) before you are in sections higher than 116. Section 100 starts at the right field fowl pole and moves towards home plate. Sections 108-116 are from dugout to dugout. Anything higher than row 25 should be in the shade all the time. Below row 25 just depends on the time of day and what section you are in.
So if you are looking for tickets keep that in mind.
A family friend has had season tickets for 29 years, I sat with him 20 rows behind home plate for game one. Saw President Bush throw a strike, at probably 50 mph, to the catcher for the opening pitch. It was a great opening day.
From what I saw over the weekend I still think Florida looks like the toughest team. I completely forgot that Vandy has some local talent. Sam Lind from Hartford is on Vandy's team. I don't think he regularly starts, but I have seen him pinch hit late in games during the season. So if he hasn't already, he may see action in the tourney. It's great to have a South Dakota kid make that event. While Dusty Coleman was close, losing in the super regionals, the last person I remember actually playing in the tournament was Mark Ellis (Rapid City) with Florida. Chad McConnel (OG grad) had a lot of success at Creighton around 1990ish, but I didn't remember Creighton making the CWS when he played. I know that one year around his timeframe they made the finals, but I didn't think he was playing that year. I could be wrong.
Are there any other SD kids ever to play in the CWS?
