Geez, shooting 15% in the first half. Couldn't hit water if we tossed it off a boat.

Absolutely nothing to be gained by scheduling this game. What a disaster.

Absolutely nothing to be gained by scheduling this game. What a disaster. What do you mean there's nothing to be gained?

Even though it was against the Coyotes, I really liked watching how MSU played defense. The aggressiveness (but not too physical), hands in passing lanes and dribbles, etc. - loved it. Wish we could run something like that, but it takes a commitment to a philosophy and a certain type of athlete.

Nothing against our guys, but you can see the SEC vs. "mid major" difference, in quality and quantity. I think it is a positive experience though to match up against stronger competition, it should be motivating to coaches and players alike.

MS State hasn't challenged themselves so far in the schedule, but they do play a good Marquette team on Monday. Will be interesting to see how they do. They also play Omaha, Minnesota and Drake. Guessing their coaches have some Midwest contacts.

I'm not surprised they struggled but am a bit concerned with how out-classed they looked. I was texting with friends that there is a difference between being disadvantaged due to size and athleticism and being overwhelmed by it, and it's tough to argue they haven't been overwhelmed by it in the two P5 games.
I'm still hopeful this team will improve and have a chance to win the league tournament. Lipscomb is looking like a decent win, and they will be tested with the rest of the non-conference schedule. Sam Houston is a possible Weds opponent. They have won at Oklahoma and at Utah. UC Irvine comes to the SCSC and they won at Oregon. Plus the Yotes play at BYU. Lots of opportunities to find their rhythm.

Hopefully we can continue to use these challenging games to expose why we need to work on without crushing our confidence. We'll need to be patient with this team and coaching staff. The goal is to peak in March which requires knowing who you are.

I'm not too worried about what we have seen so far. It was always going to take 8 or 9 games for the players, coaches, etc. to figure out what they have, and then go to work with game planning, rotations, etc. It is kind of like scripting the first 15 plays in football - we have only run a few plays so far, and no one really knows anything yet.
