As fun as the ND State win was, focus now needs to shift to Murray State. The Racers won their first MVFC game at Murray, KY 30-28. And pictures show they were super excited. The Yotes need need to dampen their enthusiasm considerably!!
Nine of their points were on a pick 6 and a safety. They surrendered 203 yds to ISU's Lawrence on 29 carries, so the Coyotes need to pound the rock, play a clean game and the Yote D needs to create havoc!!!
Go Yotes!!! Have a Great D Day!!!

Should be a decisive D-Days win. Murray State should compare relatively well to St. Thomas.

I’m not too worried about losing, but it will be interesting to see how sharp we look. D-Days should help with the energy level.

2 point win at home against perennially hapless, and currently 0-4, Indiana State. I'm guessing that will allow Murray State to avoid the cellar this year but they shouldn't finish higher than 10th. This is a team you have to blow out on D Days.

NDSU should be in the rear-view mirror. Take nothing for granted as Murray State has scholarship players too. The focus should be 100% on the Racers.

I was looking at how many seats were left for this game. I didn't realize we were charging $50 a ticket.

$50 between the 30 yard lines and $40 outside. Hopefully the use every promotion possible to have a full house on Saturday. Need to get some work done this afternoon, but I have a lot of thoughts on getting butts in the seats for D Days that I will share later.

I buy season tickets and do a higher level of the howling pack. So I get good seats and free upfront parking I don't know why all fans don't do this

There is nothing like D Days for USD fans, students & alumni. However, way too many people from all 3 groups do not include attending the game as part of the D Days activities. I know a lot of people, especially students and alumni, who take part in all the pregame activities, but instead of heading in to the Dome to watch the game, continue to tailgate, head to a bar to watch the game, or head to a house party. I hear some complaints that tickets and/or beer are too expensive, but I have offered people free tickets and still can't get them to the game.
I love tailgating as much as anyone and probably more than some, but the game, not tailgating, needs to be the focus of all gameday promotions. Many schools, including SDSU, shut down tailgating a few minutes before the game starts and they also don't allow fans to exit and reenter at halftime. Perhaps USD needs to adopt the same policy.
We need to turn the game into an event that people want to attend. The gameday experience in the Dome continues to be one of the best kept secrets in the Siouxland region. Step one is to put a good product on the field, which we now have. Step 2 is all the game day production. There are always things that can be improved, but all in all, especially compared to other FCS programs, USD does a pretty damn good job. Step 3 is to to get more butts in the seats. The larger and more engaged the crowd is, the more fun it is for all. Every game needs to have a promotion that appeals to different segments of the fan base. Use discounted tickets, concession and beer specials, etc to get people there.

Put restrictions on tailgating like your suggesting and you will really kill the crowd at the Dome. I'm one of those that drop $1,000 plus on tickets, donations, etc. (Really, it's not that hard. Things add up.) Treat me like a 5 year old and I won't do that anymore.

The per seat ticket price is a secondary issue for most people and generally doesn't have that much impact on how many people attend the games. If the team is winning and playing well, the dome fills up. If the team stinks and consistently losing, the dome is empty. Like most of you, I have season tickets that were paid for long ago so I don't really think about it week in and week out and rarely miss a home game. That said, for the casual fan, the biggest decision is whether to blow an entire Saturday traveling to and from Vermillion to watch a football game, with little consideration regarding the price of admission. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I'm too far off.

I don't think the coaching staff will allow otherwise, but the Yotes need to focus on the Racers like they did the Bison.
I think it sets up well for a D-Days victory, but Murray State drew 13k fans for Indiana State and their 1st MVFC game, they will be motivated to prove they belong in the Valley. I also read a tidbit, that Indiana State and Murray State were the only 2 MVFC teams to schedule 2 FBS schools in 2023, so there's that in regards to their current W-L record.

Never underestimate a school with a men's and women's rifle team. They aim small and miss small and we're wearing the target this week. I think our coaches will have the guys ready to meet the moment. Looking forward to making it to Verm early on Saturday to take it all in with the family.
