I'm going to add a poll to this thread, but since I can't change it once it is made, I thought it would be good to nominate some poll options first:
This is what I would put so far:
1. The SD Showdown Series 2. The Interstate Series 3. The Rushmore Trophy 4. The Roy C. Davis Little Brown Jug Trophy 5. The "Pants" Game 6. The "Joose Cup" Game ?
So the thread is open for nominations....

According to the 1963 article I just read, the USD-SDSU game was always the Hobo Days/ Dakota Days game at that time. I thought that was interesting.

The SD Showdown, which has now been replaced with the Interstate Series, is an all-sports series. It is not and was never intended to be football only.
I would like to see the football game be played for the Roy C Davis Little Brown Jug. It has some history behind it and Davis Pharmacy is still in business in Vermillion. That being said, I graduated from USD in 1976 and never heard anything about the Jug until a few years ago.

It's not going to get a name at this point. Both schools decided to sell the name to a sponsor instead. It's possible that may be why the brown jug has to stay buried, can't take away from the sponsorship.

I do remember the losing student association president surrendering his or her trousers at midfield at the conclusion of the game. I have met a few members of the Davis family over the years. I think the pharmacy is still in the Davis family (unless I missed a recent change.) They were always known for their customer service and loyalty to customers and community. Vermillion is fortunate to still have a locally owned pharmacy. I would be their customer if I lived there.
