I think my overarching thought after today is that we are FINALLY physical enough to win a game like this in the valley. If we can maintain it, continued success should follow.
There is no way we win a game like this in years past. It's a good feeling.

Defense was stellar especially at the end. Their WRs made some amazing contested catches to get it to that ending. Credit them. But what a goal line stand. Great job.
Although, it wasn’t pretty offensively because we chose to run-run-run and then throw to JJ. That double move was a nice play design. We did miss some major chunk yard explosive throws on RPOs that 100% should have been thrown because of what the defense did. Not sure if Bouman was overthinking it, but his read told him to pull it out and throw at least on 3-4 big hitters but he just handed it off into a loaded box for minimal to no gain. Those are called for a reason.
Great win and back at it next Saturday. Good luck to the boys.

Part of that was probably because the schedule was heavily back-loaded with ndsu and sdsu toward the end along with other games outside in the cold. I remember sending a decent team to Illinois state and getting beat something like 46-0 in the snow. Those types of games wear on a a fans psyche over time.

In 2013, we won a string of games and I believe we finished with Youngstown - Montana - SDSU - NDSU. Brutal.

This is the first time I’ve never had a doubt about our defense. They are solid across the board. I knew they would not let us down. What a game. This, like Youngstown and Indiana State, is an example of a game we lose just a few years ago. Two top ten upsets today. Curious to see how the rankings look. Und won a slug fest against MSU today. Schuster had a career game. Never gets easier in the Valley. Onto next week! We had been 9th in the media poll (which more closely resembled the playoff committee rankings). 3 of the 4 teams directly ahead of us lost, the 2 teams directly behind us lost (SIU and NDSU), couple that with a great road win, I think we get back up to 6th. Win out and we might be able to reach the next tier and get a top 4 seed. Montana or Montana State will be losing a game, but someone else might need to help us out to make one more jump up to 4th.

Rankings aside, I like our chances against most of the FCS at this point, with the exception of state. You look at the top 10, and I'm confident we'd go and beat Furman, Delaware, Incarnate Word, etc. Some of the Big Sky teams have me a little concerned - Montana and MSU. I'm just hoping we don't get a repeat of our last playoff appearance where they lost sent another MVFC team to the dome.

They are the only potential MVFC playoff team we haven't faced. It would be really annoying but seems to be the way it goes.

On the other side of that coin, Coyote fans might show up for a game against UNI.

Yeah, I don’t se a scenario where we aren’t paired with UNI, either in the first or second round. If we don’t get a seed then I’m fairly positive we would be playing the Jacks in the 2nd round.
The Geography part of the equation sucks.
So let’s just get a seed to at least avoid the Jacks in round 2.

So many different ways playoff positioning can work out. About the only thing we do know for sure is that beating UND is going to make things look a whole lot better for us. A bye week followed by a home playoff game sounds a whole lot better than potentially going back on the road for a 9th (then 10th?) straight week of MVFC football.

I would think wins in the last 2 games will bring a bye and a first round game at home. lost to a rated SEC team and no 1 jacks dont look bad
