We all know that the 2023-2024 season was not what we hoped it would be, but it's in the past now. What are our hopes and expectations for this off-season? What would we like to see the coaches do? Who needs a big summer? What big stat categories do we need to improve upon to have a better record in 2024?
Let's use this as a thread for discussion and updates until next season. Go Yotes.

First item is for the portal, which officially opens tomorrow, to treat us well. No key losses and pickup an addition or 2, perhaps a Carlton Hurst type. Also, hopefully Boston Holt decides to complete his MBA degree rather that going pro oversees.
Second, will need to replace at least one coach, as DBO Casey Bruggeman will be leaving to take the head coaching job at Jamestown.

This is just one of those trust the process things. I do think they’re close to being where we all want them to be. Pick up a couple transfers with some floor experience and we could be in an entirely different convo. I’d like to see us pick up someone that’s got a good defensive IQ as a post player and can score when needed. (Not a big ask right? Lol) I think we also need to have someone step up into the hype man role to help motivate the team when they get into a funk. Biggest item I’d like to see improved is the defense though. We saw flashes of a good defensive team but I want those flashes to be reality.

We need a playmaking guard with a decent outside shot to run this show. When we get into what is the inevitable funk we're so good at, settle us down and direct traffic. In other words, a leader.

As mentioned in the transfers thread, Jeremiah Coleman is looking to go elsewhere. I honestly couldn’t picture how he would find playing time in competition with Holt, Stewart, Burchill, Kramer, the Bruns brothers, and potentially Eberwein & Hayes.
To my knowledge, that is two guys leaving and three recruits incoming. Unless we’ve been operating with an open roster spot, we’ll need one more guy to leave to balance things out. Another departure on top of that, would give us flexibility to portal shop for a Thioune replacement.

Two of the three incoming recruits are considered walk-ons as of a few months ago.
