Regardless of your thought on this I would have to say that the Coyotes are certainly better off if the events center gets built. The Summit tourney staying in Sioux Falls is about to get a huge shot in the arm as it looks like this thing will get passed. I voiced my opinion at the polls today and for once it looks like I am finally not in the minority when it comes to voting on things in the State of South Dakota.
This will be a good thing for general progression.

So is this the proposal to build it at the old arena site?
Personally, I think they are fools to not build it downtown. Every other city in the region has built downtown, Sioux City, Omaha, Des Moines, MStP. I guess South Dakotans don't like the "hassle" of having to drive in to the inner city of Sioux Falls, lol, because it so huge and metro. Oh well, it will be a quick in and out and I can get back to Verm and spend my $$ here.

For me I didn't care where it was built. Much too much was made of the location. Those other areas also have freeways that pass right alongside downtown which Sioux Falls does not. I will trust those that put endless hours studying which location was the best for the city. The majority preferred the arena site. The events center will be built directly south of the current convention center which is south of the existing arena. I am guessing they will all be connect via walkway or something. Ironically USD's arena if it gets built will also be directly connected to the dome. I think that South Dakota and Sioux Falls just became a slightly better place to live because of yesterdays vote.

229 goes right by downtown, the 6th St exit is right there. There was freeway access.
I don't have a dog in this fight so I could care less but it would be nice to go barhopping downtown then to the Summit Tourney. Now you have to drive everywhere unless more things go in near the Arena than a BWW. Shortsightedness on the people of Sioux Falls if you ask me. That's all.

Yes, because cab services are so hard to find in Sioux Falls, and the interstate is SOOOOO far away from the Arena site...I mean, it's about the same as 229 is to downtown... Gosh, I can't believe how far away downtown is. I mean, it has to cost at least 50 bucks to get from the Arena to downtown now since it's SOOOOOO LONGGGGGG. I mean, downtown is further away from the Arena than the Mall right? It isn't? But everyone goes to the Mall instead of downtown? Well how can they do that with no freeway close? Wait, the freeway isn't that far away? Gosh, it's so easy to debunk the BID people...let's be honest, a cab ride downtown is not bad, plus as Matt Zimmer said, there are five different bars close to the site. Let's not get crazy here, it's not hard to find a beer close to the Arena.
