We'revGetting better in a hurry? What planet are you on. We scored some points on a really bad team in the first half then got our heads handed to us in the second. I was able to stream video of the game off of the MSU web and it was interesting to listen to their play by play. At one point late in first half they commented that they had the most penaltied (9) smallest first half offensive production of the year against the weakest team on their schedule. In the second half they compared our offense to the old 70s option offenses pointing out that it would be tough for the coyotes to come back from a deficit because they have a running QB who's strength is not throwing the ball. They told their fans thats why USD loves to throw short passes, loosen up the backers to run the option. Another interesting comment came when they mentioned that JVM goes to the sideline after every play pointing out that you dont usually see that in college because it takes away from play adjustment at rhe line of scrimmage while cutting into time management. Now comes the toughest part of the schedule. Coaches have to figure out how to get a consistent pass rush and come up with a different strategy to hold on to a lead.

Different coach, same Yotes. The cupboard was left bare at quarterback, defensive line, linebacker and offensive line. It's starting to show every week, too. In terms of strategy..I am a bit of an Xs and Os guy. I will answer why doesn't Starr play middle linebacker question that has been brought up again and again and will prolly be brought in later.
You can STILL block him and have him running a lot...plus you leave a huge hole at the outside spot. Starr should be playing defensive end but USD does not have depth at either position, so Starr is at the position th ey think he can make the most plays. I think he can be neutralized no matter what position he plays because defenses will for Marlette to make the play over Starr because of Marlette's size and it really is not impeding if they beat the Yotes.
This is an absolutely horrible loss and I don't care if it is on the road or if there were improvements, it all went down the drain with this choke job. Top priority..find JUCO lineman and a JUCO QB, no doubt.

Tough loss. Sadly, I don't think the Bison losing this week is going to help your chances next week in Sioux Falls. The MVC is tough.

Now we're back with the Jacks fans telling us the MVC is tough...that's been a little quiet since we knocked heads with ILS.
These were two terrible losses, and I hope it doesn't settle in with the teams psyche. I know the schedule is going to get tougher going forward, but there are definitely wins out there. Just keep working and learn from the experience. We'll be competing for the Conference title soon enough...

MMike, if you posted in reply to my comments please read mine over again. I don't think the Yotes had a first half this year like the one at Missouri State. That's all. Something positive. I've been around adversity and it can build a winner if you work on it. I know you'll agree with me on that point.

Once again, its the same story...Powell needs to get the ball,The first series of the game we come out hit powell a few times and score...opened the running game on the second series for sims...scored again, Didn't go back to Powell much until the 4th when we were in need of a Touch down...The key is Pass to Powell , If JVM can't do that, change it up...New QB could hurt..But don't leave JVM on the sideline move him to Defense to help the secondary...That is what most of the other colleges where looking at him for anyway...

This was more than just a "tough loss." We absolutely imploded. WIU and Ill St. each edged us out in important statistical categories. We executed poorly at key junctures, couldn't capitalize on home-field advantage and lost both games. Tough pills to swallow but, arguably, appropriate final results. Missouri State was an entirely different animal. We had double the TOP, half the penalties, significantly more total yards and, most importantly, a double-digit lead late in the game. From Mick's Argus piece today: "At the end of the third quarter, it was much more one-sided, with the Coyotes outgaining the Bears 327-110 while holding a 177-29 edge in rushing yards."
I just hope the team finds it in them to finish the season on somewhat of a high note. It certainly doesn't get any easier. We're not making the playoffs. I'd like to see us mix in some younger guys. I haven't written off JVM; he's only a sophomore and can do some unique things with his legs. His touch, accuracy and, at times, decision making just aren't there yet.

Should be 3-0 in conference right now. This is getting pretty old, sad, and pathetic. New coach, new season, some new players but same old result. My patience is worn out.
Sometimes it's very hard to be a Coyote.

Hang in there, its making all of us nuts, but at least we are not cursed in the way those chicago cub fans are. We r in right division and right conference. Once we have the right pieces in place everyone will know who charlie coyote is!
