What a failure on the part of the University. Lot D is a lot reserved for Howling Pack members with prior parking passes. This lot will not open until 12PM, at the directive of the Athletic Department.
Why are the squandering a great tailgating opportunity and a chance to really show the folks in Sioux Falls how much fun a USD game can be?
Even an hour would make a difference. At 11AM nationally televised games around the country start. People want to get to their spots, get the site set up and turn on the games.
Further, this isn't on campus so the risk of students drinking under age is reduced.
Poor planning if you ask me.

Even at the Fargodome, we only let people tailgate 5 hours before the event. You guys are getting to start 6 hours early.

bisonnation. youre missing the point. I was replying to cousineddie and he was only complaining about the lot D. Other aspects of the tailgating, like not forecasting other events and the communication has been terrible, but letting Yote fans only start 6 hours before game time is not one of them. IMO

bisonnation, I appreciate the information. I did not know that. I was under the impression that tailgating at the Fargo Dome began earlier - but I suppose that has to be considered against the start of the game.
Coupling 6 hours of tailgating with the addition of alcohol sales at the game probably does leave open a large amount of liability to account for.

Fargodome tailgating DOES start earlier...we just can't get a parking spot in the lot until 5 hours before the game . We line up 4-5 hours before the lots open just to make sure we have a spot. If you have a rig set up for it, you can consume adult beverages and pregame there.
