I don't care if it is a kicker, getting anybody that is going to the US Army All-American game is HUGE. No doubt the kid had other options. So that means a couple things: (1) Glenn and Co. are doing some super selling this year; and (2) we are going to get some awesome exposure in the USAA Game.

Shortell at Minnesota said he wants to go to a pro-style system (according to something i read in the pioneer press), so we can cross off USD. coaches should still try though

Shortell also said he wants to go to an FBS school, or at least that was the speculation.

Yeah, figured it would be a long shot, but seeing the recruits Glenn has so far and the lack of a credible QB makes me wonder if he can at least get him on the phone. I give it a 1% percent chance at best.

2012 Highlights: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPKVxmeEEI02011 Track highlights: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiZoZQ2kexoNot insanely smooth, but a QB, OLB, hurdler. Personally, I think these are the types of guys you want. Athletes that are winners. I hope Glenn can continue to make inroads into Nebraska. There is plenty of talent that is just below the FBS level that has been going up to NDSU. It would be great to see those guys stay closer to home, to our benefit.

Even though I played, it's always been hard for me to evaluate talent. I am not always sure what it takes to play at this level when watching a high school football player. But I will say this about Colin, he really gets off the block and follows through on tackles. I would bet a dime against a dollar they recruited him to play defense. He looks very athletic, and extremely passionate. I.e. a Joe Glenn type of player
Welcome to the Coyotes kid.

Unless we are going to a full option offense in the future, there is not way this guy plays QB in college.

More from JH:
"Newest USD football recruit Colin Mertlik will likely play LB for the Coyotes, his high school coach says. School record in tackles for loss."

Definitely an area of need, good to see UNI has interest and Nebraska does as well. Good linemen track record. In terms of Colin, definitely need more linebacking depth and seems like he has a good nose for the ball.
