In response to the unable to win at Wyoming comment....who really is able to win at Wyoming, ever, in football? They are in so much worse shape without Glenn than they were with him, no doubt.

Keep the comments coming. I don't believe any comment is not worth hearing. Last I heard tomorrow afternoon will be the big meeting between Glenn and Sayler and whoever else may be a part of it as well. I am sure alot of things will get discussed during that meeting. If any coaching changes are done we should know about it very soon.
Please whatever happens we need a comprehensive look at the football program from top to bottom and an objective analysis on where things go from here. I hope Joe Glenn is able to make decisions based on what is best for the program as a whole to get it winning even if some loyalties may have to be severed in the process. That is just the way things go.
If anyone finds out what happens as a result of that meeting please let us all know.

A comparison I would make to USDs season this year is Washington State. They are 2-9 and 0-8 in the PAC 12 right now heading into their last game against in state rival Washington. Their two wins have come against Eastern Washington by 4 points and UNLV (2-10 currently) by 8 points. Washington State hired Mike Leach the same time USD hired Glenn. We all know Glenn's resume - the three knocks against him that I have heard and think have some validity are: 1. He was retired when we hired him - so he was mentally out of the game. 2. Winning at UNC and Montana is a hell of a lot easier than building a winner at USD. He wasn't able to get it done at Wyoming. 3. At USD he will have a younger less experienced staff than what he has been used to over his recent career. Mike Leach has been a part of several program turn arounds and rebuilds - started out building a Jr College program in Iowa with Hal Mumme, went to Valdosta State and built a powerhouse, (he was also a finalist for the USD job in 1991 when Creehan was hired) went to Kentucky as OC and made them highly competitive while there, won a National Championship at Oklahoma as OC under Stoops, and then most recently turned a completely irrelevant Texas Tech team to a National contender. Now at Washington State in year one he is headed for 10 losses just like Glenn at USD. I believe both men are excellent coaches that have real track records of success and have forgotten more about football than I have ever known. If Glenn can look in the mirror and can honestly say he is up to the challenge and here to see this through - I believe he can and will get it done. We will get to see. I believe USD can have a winning season next year (which compared to this year would be a huge improvement). Building a winner easier at Montana I'll agree with, Greeley, CO, not so much. USD is a higher profile job with better facilites and a better academic instution than UNC.

It is obvious this recruiting season is extremely important. With a young team we had real opportunities to win quite a few MVFC games (e.g., WIll, IllState, YSU, UNI). With increased strength/experience with our returning group and strategic recruiting to add talent I think a good increase in wins next year and beyond is very realistic. Towards, this, compared to our MVFC peers, I still think we have some strengths/advantages that will help us in our recruiting attempts: 1. Opportunity to play right away 2. Southernmost Dakota school (i.e., closest to Nebraska (Omaha, Lincoln), NW IA, Missouri, Kansas recruiting centers) 3. Personable coach who can flash three national championship rings 4. Administration that appears to be committed to a winning program 5. The Dome > Coughlin Alumni (in my opinion) 6. Vastly Improved Campus

The Dome is definately better than Coughlin Alumni. I am surprised that they haven't done more with that stadium up there. I also think it is a mistake that they haven't added field turf by now. It could certainly use it.
If USD gets the jump on the basketball arena and starts building it before South Dakota State builds their football stadium (which will be quite a bit more expensive one would think) USD would be able to truly boast that their facilities are in general better than SDSU's but most certainly so for the most important sports on campus.
If that happens USD could very easily start winning that Bowl of Corn when that is accomplished. SDSU fans are going to have to start getting used to getting beat more consistantly by USD down the road.

The optimistic view of when the replacement may be started (2014) dictates leaving natural turf -- no use in doing the field over with field turf if it's only going to get ripped up for a new facility. While CAS isn't the prettiest, we averaged 13,338 for home games this year and the cash registers were full. It'll be interesting to see the crowd size for this Saturday against Eastern Illinois. Students will be home for Thanksgiving break but those in the area may return for the afternoon. Ticket sales today (season ticket holders could purchase their seats for Saturday's game) were so strong the system got bogged down and the season ticket holder priority has been extended into tomorrow.

One thing about South Dakotans is that they don't seem very spontaneous when it comes to attending sporting events. It's like if it isn't planned plenty in advance than it won't happen.
If USD ever had a home playoff game in any of the big 3 sports there is almost no way that I would miss it. I like the Sioux Falls Peasants but barely even go. When they were in the playoffs I never missed a game when I was in town. Same goes for the Stampede and any other teams. There is nothing like the do or die nature of the post season. For one thing it's pretty much impossible to make an NCAA tourney without being a pretty darn good team.
Eventhough I am routing for Eastern Illinois the Jacks deserve credit for another good season. Is there some jealousy here, absolutely.

It is all about how you spin it I guess. Did SDSU not anticipate most if not all season ticket holders would want to go to the playoff game? Shouldn't have been a surprise.

Good post Azod73 with the Mick Garry Argus link. I agree with most of what Garry said. Obviously he did error at the end of the article when he said that Kevin Robb is a senior. Will be great to have Kevin back again!

Josh is unquestionably the starter next year??? Things just keep getting better. It's amazing how many people fail up at USD. Those that succeed tend to always want to leave. What a situation we have. A fanbase that doesn't care. A team that doesn't even know it's not very good. What's next.

Just watched the last Coyote Corner of the year and I am awfully thankful we have Coach Glenn at the helm right now. If you haven't watched this show yet, Midco has done a nice job covering an extremely frustrating season where finding positive things to talk about has been a difficult proposition. Hats off to Jay Elsen, Andre Fields, Coach Glenn and others for taking the time to put this together. Definitely a class act all the way around. While watching the show tonight I was disappointed to see the first half play against SDSU where JVM dropped back under pressure (...and back... and back) and took a huge loss on the SDSU one yard line. To me that falls on our QB coach and our QB. The offense sustained those kinds of losses in EVERY game this year when there has continuously been ample opportunities to simply throw the ball out of bounds and not cost your team yardage. That's high school football stuff right there and it needs to be addressed. Then again, making field goals, avoiding false starts and personal fouls...are as well. Lots of work to do.
JackJD, With all those ticket requests bogging down the SDSU ticket system, I was expecting a lot more folks at CAS watching the playoff game than the 4,367 who showed up. USD may have some freshman in the computer science program who could help you guys out. =)
I jest, but you are correct, your facilities are definitely NOT the Taj Mahal. During the State/U game I took a lot of crap via text message from a few State buddies who were hunting west river. All I had to do was walk over, snap a picture of the crumbling foundation your fans were sitting a top on the east side bleachers and sent it their way. I never heard a word back from them. I will try and enclose the picture soon, it's definitely a lawsuit waiting to happen. Then again, I suppose one could argue assumption of the risk since there were about 40 other similiar "foundations" in plain sight.

I thought you were joking about the attendance so I had to go look it up. That is pathetic. Even though our season stunk over 8,000 still showed up for the last home game against UNI. A little over 4000 for a playoff game? Wow.
