Hopefully the class will pan out but you can't give credit for a class until they have had a chance to play. Interesting statement. I'd argue that you also can't put a gun to a staff's head until they have had the opportunity to get their own players. Based on the things that I have heard, getting the bad blood off of the roster and getting more players that respond to Glenn's style of discipline and accountability is exactly what this team needs.

I apologize for my part in making this a debate between a certain poster and myself. Over time I have built up such a disdain for him because I personally feel he is so out of touch with reality that his only intent of posting is to piss people off.
There are times he does make valid points, and there are times I do agree with him. What I can't agree with is the attacks and accusations that are constantly being flung under the guise he just wants to make USD better.
In reality, most of us do. I love the Coyotes more than anyone will ever know, and I'll do my share in making sure they have a shot at success. But to constantly call for firing coaches, replacing coaches, administrators, etc in my opinion is wrong, and harms the efforts to build a cohesive team of coaches. Coaches are also human beings, and they have families they have to feed. Uprooting them so quickly in my opinion once again is wrong. You can argue that's the world of coaching, but I happen to believe that USD is special, and we can get this thing done and become competitive on an annual basis, but not through "BUTCHER BLOCK" mentality. Win or be done in my opinion is not healthy.
I was an ardent supporter of Ed Meierkort for a couple of reasons. One, he brought more talent into the Dome in his tenure than we had ever seen before in our lives. For the most part, we were successful, although admittedly we did have that ROAD MONKEY on our baks that seemed to follow us. The second thing Ed did very well, despite those that didn't like him, was have the ability to schmooze with boosters, and get fresh blood and money coming in because people for the most part liked his personality. He was a like able guy. Was his program in disarray? I guess maybe it was, but at the time we were debating his tenure here, I didn't know there was internal trouble. I do know this. Many of his players, including those on this years team, text and call him all the time.
That all being said, I supported David Sayler when he terminated Ed after the fact because there was no reason to fight it, because it had happened. To quit going to games, or not financially supporting the Coyotes would be childish and wrong on my part. You have to trust those in position of authority that they are attempting to do the right thing, so you support that. Hiring Joe Glenn was in my opinion a stroke of genius. Assuming he hadn't forgotten how to ride the bike (I.e.coaching) he could tutor and mentor those he felt were qualified to head the Coyotes in 3-5 years. Brilliant hire. It was then Joe Glenn's opinion that Wesley had the capabilities to be OC. I trust him in that decision. Why else would he come to that conclusion if it was going to leave a mark on his tenure?
So now we are at today. Glen Caruso is a quality coach. Absolutely no doubt about it. But in all candor, why start a thread to see if we all approve to fire Wes and hire Glen? Coach Glenn will make that call. Joe Glenn is doing this the right way. He is putting discipline back into the program, and it would appear his skills of recruiting haven't gotten worse over time. I believe in these guys, and yes, I will invest in these guys. Do I wish there were times he had tried someone other than Josh? Yes. But again, I have to believe that Joe Glenn knows what he is doing, so I trust him in that manner. These kids deserve our unqualified support, and so do our coaches.
I will try my best to debate and leave personal feelings out of the debate. But I will tell you that if anyone attacks the staff or players of USD in any manner less than professional, I will defend them as much as I can.

Yoteforever,
Fans call for the firing of coaches in just about any forum you read. I actually don't have a problem with Glenn but I do have a problem with how he has handled the QB situation and how for whatever reason Wes continues to be OC. Maybe that is not Glenn's choice, maybe it is. What we saw on the field last year was at least a little if not very disturbing when it came to play calling and/or quarterback play.
Yoteforever what do you expect fans to do and say after the kind of season we just had. Do you not expect any kickback whatsoever. It's only fair to look at what is causing the problems and to suggest changes is healthy. Whether they happen or not, is not up to us but we can certainly debate things and suggest things.
If I don't produce at work I expect to be pulled back into an office and I expect that I would have to improve my performance. If improvement doesn't happen I get fired or demoted. That is how the business world works. The sports world is even more cutthroat than that. Welcome to reality.
The bottom line is that there is not enough discussion about USD athletics. I bring debate to the floor. You may like it, you may not but I still bring an interest level to this board. Do we want to push back our better more passionate fans and shut them up or do we want to promote interest in USD athletics. Apparently with basketball attendance promoting USD athletics is either not happening or not working. Josh Mueller was a fiesty player that may not have always done everything that was approved of 100% on the court. Should he have been kicked off the team for that. If a fan is cheering in the stands when everyone else wants him to sit down should that fan be kicked out of the arena. Even if that fan is annoying to some, he is cheering and he is supporting USD athletics. Believe it or not suggesting what I consider productive changes for the intent of improving the program is productive to me, eventhough many say it is unproductive. Should we get rid of that fan that stands up and cheers to much. Fans during the State-U game say things they shouldn't and do things they shouldn't at times. Should we kick those fans out of the arena or tell them they are not welcomed back. Well basically many on here are saying that to me. I am passionate and I cheer loud and also boo sometimes on the board. Should I get eliminated for being too passionate. If you say yes, that kind of goes against the whole point. We should be encouraging discussion and fan participation not censoring it or pushing it back. Does Joe Glenn want a fan base that will completely bow to his every move or does he want a fan base that is willing to question him. He and everyone here should not be surprised to hear some negative comments coming off the type of season that we just endured. Our fanbase honestly isn't strong enough if noone is going to stand up and say what they really feel, even if it's not necessarily popular.
I have been told personally by a prominant coach at USD that we need more people like me, not less so why should I change my feelings about how I post. I will leave it at that eventhough some people will argue to the contrary to the grave that it would be better if I would turn in my fan card and completly ignore USD athletics. When you see 500 people in the stands for many games, do we really want to reduce the fan base.

Yoteforever,
One more thing. If this program shows that they are legitimate as far as being a competitor in the MVFC I will lay off the football program. Until then the football program does not deserve it's fanbase to lay off. A good fanbase should be enraged right now.

Coyotefan,
Changes were made to the football program a year ago. You keep saying you wanted more done with the QB situation. Well, Earl looked like he didn't below on the field against SDSU's backups. Yes, he looked good for a quarter and looked absolutely awful for a quarter.
Also, many fans stick with teams who lose consistently. I was a Twins' fan all throughout the 90s and deal with a lot there. It's not always sunshine and roses and sometimes there is more doom and gloom with the team you choose to follow.
I think what Glenn knows about football and the thought process of what he does with the coordinators and players is more complex than what some of us choose for supper tonight.
