The Yotes were up 15-4 at one points. Now 40.6 to go in the half and USD now leads 23-21.
Halftime
South Dakota 23 Western Illinois 23
3/4 court shot hits the rim for WIU but doesn't go.

USD nearly pulls it out but I am glad they fell a couple points short. This is exactly what I wanted to see tonight, a very good effort but a close loss. Being #7 on Saturday is better than being #6 on Sunday. It's now Western Illinois, instead of NDSU. If the Yotes are to be a cinderalla they are in the perfect starting point at #7.

I believe it is
#1 SDSU vs #8 IUPUI #4 Oakland vs #5 IPFW #3 NDSU vs #6 UMKC #2 Western Illinois vs #7 USD
Yotes would play NDSU vs UMKC winner if they win themselves. I think the Yotes will pull out the game vs WIU next Saturday Night.

I'm with Eddie on that one. As much as it stinks, this was the best case scenario for the Coyotes who have not matched up well with NDSU. With or without Parks, I think WIU's luck will finally run out before a largely "home-town" crowd wearing lots of red, and possibly blue and gold, as they earn the upset. The Coyotes seem to always have this team's number despite their two losses by a combined 4 points. The Yotes can definitely get the job done against this team on Saturday.

I assume the blue and gold reference is to SDSU but the colors are blue and yellow, not gold. It will be interesting to see what happens in the first game and whether the USD fans pick a side. That may influence whether some wearing yellow and blue enter the fray for the second game. Either way, should be a lot of fun and some good games.

I am sure Boot's is not happy about losing but I think under his breath he is happy how the road trip went this weekend and happy to draw Western Illinois. I am glad both the Men and Women have gotten back on their game again. This should make for a very good tourney for both.
Here is kind of what I hope happens. For the Women it's easy. They should be favored in all the games they play until SDSU which they will be an underdog in. It would obviously be a good thing if SDSU got upset before the final. Cheer for SDSU's opponent without a doubt.
For the men, We need to be out in full force cheering against NDSU. They are a tough matchup for the Yotes. We need alot of Yotes fans to be UMKC fans on Sunday if the Yotes get by Western Illinois.
The good thing is the SDSU games are both on Saturday which will limit their numbers to possibily cheer against the USD women on Sunday.
The USD women have a very good chance to be playing in that Championship game on Tuesday afternoon.

JackJD, I suspect there won't be much time for the USD contingent to really take sides in the IUPUI-SDSU game. That one is over already. The Jags are such a dumpster fire. I'm inclined to believe the more thoughtful SDSU fans in attendance for the WIU-USD game will deploy their support to whichever team they believe is a better matchup for the Jacks and/or has a better chance of knocking off NDSU, arguably the best team in the tourney.

@ JackJD: My mistake on the gold reference v. yellow, but I suppose one could paraphrase Billy Madison in this instance and say, "Gold Jacket, Yellow Jacket, who gives a ...." Any more with the way schools "tweak" their uniforms (i.e. Oregon, Baylor(lime green the other night, really???), etc...) the old days of boring school colors are out the window. Plenty of gold AND yellow in the Rabbit line-up, logo, apparel options, etc.. these days. =)

This is exactly how I feel. USD got the best draw of the bottom 4 teams. Western Illinois might be the #2 seed but I think I'd take any of the other teams to beat them now. Even if Parks plays, he wont be 100% and that hurts them a lot. USD only lost by 2 points both times but when they played in SD, their best player(Parks) was healthy. They did beat USD at home without him but that was at home so it should be tougher in SD.

The USD women have a very good chance to be playing in that Championship game on Tuesday afternoon. I don't know if I'd cheer against USD's women or not. IUPUI beat SDSU twice this year. If IUPUI wins on Saturday I don't know if I really want to play them again. I know SDSU played crappy in both of those games but what says that SDSU will actually show up and play them this time. SDSU actually beat USD so would you rather play a team that beat you twice or a team that you beat twice? USD has the best chance of beating IUPUI so I might prefer it if they win on Sunday. If IUPUI does lose on Saturday then it MIGHT be a different story. Would you rather play a higher seed with the home state crowd or would you want to play a worse team with 50 people in their corner? In a small way, I would like to see USD there because they belong there but they do scare me more than anybody except IUPUI.

Uh oh. Just heard a "blue and gold" reference by SDSU alumnus Tom Nieman around the 11:00 minute mark in the first half of tonight's Midco broadcast. Get on that JackJD, he should know its blue and yellow! =) Gotta give you a little grief after your earlier post. Rabbits look tough right now.
