Wondering if you guys could help me fill in the missing pieces on the South Dakota page for the new MVFC forum I've created. Mainly I don't know if you have a named mascot, what your marching band's name is and then if you can provide me with the essential USD links that would be awesome as well. www.mvfctalk.com/index.php?pages/south-dakota/I've already linked back to this site, too.

Thanks yoteforever... just updated what I was missing. What about media links. I found your student newspaper, but not sure on your local newspaper, TV, radio, etc.

I'd put Midcontinent Sports Network on the top of the TV media list. That is where you can find the actual games, coaches shows, etc.
Also, KTIV (NBC station out of Sioux City).

Is 10,000 the actual max attendance for a game in the dome? SDSU will put people on the practice field with a big screen but that is outside so that don't have a "max" according to them but playing in a dome makes a difference. Thanks!

For the SDSU game next year I heard the plan was to put up a big screen in one of the cornfields across Hwy 50 from the Dome for the Jack fans to watch the game. Thought process was it would be better than giving them actual seats inside the Dome, make them feel more at home.
I know, should be in smack section but I couldn't resist!!

I think the 10k figure was valid back when both teams stood on the east side of the field. Now with the section of bleachers between the 20s on the students' side mostly out of the equation I would bet it's closer to 7 or 8k.

There are approx 5300 permanent seats, not sure how many can fit on student bleachers but guessing 3500 maybe more. I would say 9,000 is probably current max.

Do the new plans (BB arena, etc) call for additional permanent seats? And how many?

The entire plan (BB arena, track complex, and Dome renovations) do call for more seats in Dome on student side and seats in endzone. How many and what gets done first I can't remember. I'm thinking total capacity could be between 12,000 and 15,000. Not sure where it will end up.

My understanding is that the first phase of renovations to the dome will put the seating in the 12,000 to 13,000 range, basically by adding permanent seating on the student side and putting seats back in the area now used as Coyote Landing. If the need arises to expand to 15,000 capacity, the north end of the dome will be replaced and 2,000 to 3,000 seats will be put in the north end zone.

Do the new plans (BB arena, etc) call for additional permanent seats? And how many? As I recall, after the arena/connector building project, and the outdoor improvements - T & F and soccer, are complete (the outdoor portion may be done first), the dome renovations include permanent seating on the west side. Probably some type of enhanced bleachers with back rests. This seating would run all the way up to the back/west wall. Some of the plans include the possibility for additional build-out by adding seating at the north goal post, and 4 - 6 additional rows at the top of the east and west sides. These plans could increase overall seating to 15,000+. This would be very expensive when you think of cutting out the existing concrete walls and building superstructures to support it. Don't recall the exact number of seats that could be added by running seating all the way back up to the west wall but maybe increasing the capacity to around 11,000 to 12,000? Edit: goyotes may be correct with the 12,000 to 13,000 numbers.
