CF... Pretty sure you miss the point of the smack thread... it's to bag on the bunnies, not the Yotes. Wondering if the bunny posters on here want you on their side...? Most times I can't tell who you belong with more, them or us? Your posts suggest you would be better suited to be a non-Coyote. Your username is certainly not indicative of you being an actual Coyote fan... Optimism is the future of Yote athletics... and yet you never seem to see that... I guess when you are always the pessimist, life has more surprises for you because you always expect to be disappointed. Regardless if it's a smack thread it's stupid to point out one win against NDSU as a win that somehow puts USD into a comparable status with SDSU. The NDSU win was one isolated win but that is it. So using common sense means I am less of a Coyote fan, so realizing that the SDSU program is much better than USD's makes me somehow less of a fan. It's actually quite stupid to not realize just how far behind USD is to SDSU right now in football. I am not going to ignore facts to somehow seem more like a fan. We should all expect more out of the program and hopefully that "more" is going to get kick started beginning with this season. If Coyote nation doesn't realize we are actually behind, we will never take the necessary steps to catch up. Stupid is what smack is all about.

At the time I think they were rated #1 and coming off a FCS championship. Their losses were to Washington, Montana, Montana St, and Portland St. An excellent example of why preseason rankings are worthless.

I do think it was a good win. BTW what is your problem jackl? All you do is come on here and be a jackass.

Save the paper for something more useful.

Key upsets in volleyball and softball plus an escape by their football team, really some favorable occurrences for them this year. Surprised you're not going to put any weight on our swimming or golf teams, they play into this just as much as those basketball teams.

When the swimming and golf teams average more than 100 fans per match/game than I will care more about them. Those are family and friend sports and really not much more. Has anyone here actually been to a golf tournament and followed the golf team in the gallery if they even let fans on the course during those events. extremely irrelevant sports which could be cut with barely anyone caring (and I am a good fan of pro tennis and golf) Cross Country Golf Swimming & Diving Tennis Irrelevant sports which gather just small followings Track & Field Soccer Softball Volleyball Depending on conference requirements I would favor cutting all the extremely irrelevant sports and would strongly consider cutting the Irrelevant sports to pool the resources for something relevant like Hockey. I would have no problem cutting some of those to add something like Lacrosse. I would probably check out a game or two of Lacrosse if USD offered it. I actually think USD could add hockey, have it at the Denny Sanford Premier Center and I think it could really be a hit. If Sioux Falls can regularly get 5-8K for a hockey game in the USHL I think it could do the same for college hockey as well. Hockey would be a great way for USD to bring something to the table that SDSU wouldn't have and something where USD could outshine SDSU as well. Hockey is a severely under tapped sport in South Dakota. The Coyotes could tap into some of it's potential.

If anything USD was more lucky to stay with SDSU, then SDSU was to actually win the game. When the game mattered it was dominated by SDSU just like the series has been dominated by them for the most part of the last 3 decades. Next year will likely be another win by the Jacks but after that I can see things getting interesting very quickly. Before that happens hope will need to turn into reality which is something that rarely happens for Coyote Football. Hopefully that changes soon.

I was gonna brag about winning it again but not sure it's needed. Thanks CF!
Still think it's a dumb trophy even though I know it does a lot of good for the community.

I honest;y don't think there's an AD in the country that doesn't dream of doing what you propose. There's just one minor little hitch in your proposal....TITLE IX. This is what's totally frustrating about your posts, is you make wild ones like this, but have relatively no clue as to the business side of your proposals. You just have negative rants. I like the idea of hockey, then you propose to move that sport to Sioux Falls. And we would practice where? Any clue what starting a hockey program would cost? I do, because I've researched it, let alone annual funding. And if they didn't win a national title by at least their second year, you wouldn't come anymore, because you don't support programs that lose. I suggest you go to a volleyball match sometime if you want to be entertained. Great sport, very competitive, and there are crowds there. I worked the Summit Legue track meet in May, and I was surprised t the crowd size that was there to watch, particular;y the final day, despite not very nice weather. I'm not a knowledgable guy in T and F, but someone correct me if I'm wrong, USD is relevant in the sport. In fact I believe we had a national champion recently. And we have (2) coaches on staff that are Olympiads. That's damned impressive to me.

Also, as I think more about this topic, I would guess that in T and F, and X-Country, USD has had more All-Americans than probably all other sports combined. Our coaching staff is extremely impressive and loyal. They stay put. And the boosters put the money together to build what had to be one of the premier track outlets in the country...at any level.
