For 51 weeks they have been running at the mouth because of their win in Brookings last year. They won the rights to brag. Saturday afternoon , those rights are changing to those wearing red. I'd give my you know what to play in that game one more time. I think our guys will be so ready to seek revenge, and put a stop to all this nonsensical talk we have had to listen to since last November.
I'm not making any predictions other than I bet it is one hell of a game. I have respect for the Bunnies, but I don't fear them. I hope that's how our kids feel come Saturday. Lets put an end to all this bullshit playoff talk they are spewing. I'd love it if we finally put 4 quarters together and gave them the beat down they deserve.

I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and I offer my apologies in advance for preaching to the choir. While I'm certainly excited for Saturday's game -- and the opportunity to cleanse from our mouths the sour taste of back-to-back close defeats -- I'm discouraged by what this game means to too many of our "fans." It's kind of like Christmas Mass; it's the one time a year a lot of these people will show up. It would've been nice to have them in the Dome when our guys were playing their hearts out against Montana and YSU. A few thousand extra voices can be the difference in such nail biters.
Rivalry games are icing. Playoffs are the cake. No serious fan would trade a playoff appearance for a win against SDSU. While the YSU loss knocked us out of playoff contention, I wish the masses would realize just how close we are and how much fan support makes a difference. These players notice when the Dome is flat. The level of competition we have entering the Dome -- for football and basketball -- is so far superior to the NCC days that it's not even debatable. I wish more folks would appreciate that and extend to our teams the support they deserve. This D-I thing is fun. Get to know our teams. Learn the leagues.

This weekend is not only an opportunity to put all the SDSU bravado to rest, but is also a chance to expose some more USD fans to what a great atmosphere the Dome can be football.

No need to apologize, but what I would say in rebuttal is that maybe you are preaching to the choir. Most of us on this board attend most, if not all, home games. I've been to all but one road game, and you are right, the MVC football grind is a blast. I look forward to the 3 hour tailgate in Vermillion, and when on the road, I join visiting teams tailgates as most are very receptive. People need to get educated on what a good time this is. Anyone can also say what they want, but this is a big game to both squads. The Jacks fans pretend that this is just another game, but in my corner of the world, the BS has just started flying around. Rival games are awesome, and if it takes a rival game to get someone's arse in the Dome to experience it, then maybe we have a chance to grow our attendance for next year. These kids have proven over and over they indeed are a band of warriors. If they play well, they will win. If they don't, they probably won't. That Dome needs to be juiced in red Saturday, no question about it. They respond well like anyone with positive reinforcement. It's time............ |

I was preaching to the choir  The purpose of my comment wasn't to dampen enthusiasm or downplay the significance of the rivalry. I love this rivalry, but it's just one exciting piece to the story of a season. I only wish a maddeningly large portion of our fans would realize that and get behind our teams on a consistent basis, not just when State comes to town. Life is busy; I get that. But our fan base is no busier than those that, week in and week out, fill their stadiums. As for State talk, I can't help but laugh at those smackishly suggesting this is our "Super Bowl." For a lot of our fans, I suppose it is. But those Jacks better be looking at this game as their Super Bowl or they won't be in the playoffs. Go Yotes! |

I'm starting to get pretty psyched up for this game. I've basically been in shock since Saturday afternoon so it's time for me to get it together. As far as I am concerned this is the season opener for 2014. When the Yotes take down the Jackies and then follow it up by giving the Bizun everything they can handle it will be like a hugh jumpstart for next year. It won't come soon enough for me.

Seeing how many fans care about this game but almost none of the others really dampens my excitement. I'd rather the game be taken away from our "fans" so that they might actually learn to love their school instead of hating the other. I hate SDSU so much, more than anything after living up there for a while, but as was said this should be icing on the cake, not the cake.

I stayed at home in the Black Hills to work for a friend who went to visit his dad who is on hospice. I agree though. That was a poor showing. |

I wish our fans would show up every game like they will for Bunnies. Those that have missed the last few weeks have missed some high caliber football. Those games were so tight, who knows, they could have been swayed the Coyotes way with some timely, noise induced, false start penalties. When I see all these new faces enter the Dome this week it will be hard for me not to be a little upset with them. Where have you been? Maybe if you were here getting loud we would be on the verge of a playoff run instead of playing out the string.
This isn't the Super Bowl for me. In the greater FCS world, winning the last two games against YSU and perennial power Montana carries more weight and would have been bigger for the program than beating an underperforming SDSU team. I wish we had won the last two games. That said, I hate SDSU and hope we beat them into the ground.

This morning I show up 10 minutes before tickets are being issued, and after waiting in line I got ticket number 1,846 and there was still hundreds of people in line. If these people can't go to the other five home games I'd prefer it if they wouldn't come to this one. Fake fans, that's all they are. Season is twelve games long, not one.

Sadly, its a culture issue that the admin needs to work on with students. Has been going on for years. Noticed they have been doing things to get students to come and stay the entire game.
