Pretty sure they had a rough time during the transition then became a playoff team very shortly after becoming eligible, maybe in year two? Doesn't matter though. Really hate the focus so many of you decide to put on other football teams.Isn't that sort of the point of this thread. It's hard to put wins into context without looking at other teams and comparing the Yotes to them. Anyway...its Friday, take a deep breath...it's all in fun. Here's to another step in the right direction for the Coyote Football program tomorrow! Cheers everybody Go Yotes!

USD just beats the teams that State can't. Plus it should be "this year's", you missed the apostrophe - where'd you go to school anyway? Oh wait.... You know you have a great argument when you have to bring in grammar corrections on a message board... So does that mean USD is having a successful season because they beat NDSU and SDSU didn't? It's going to be a really good season if USD beats SDSU then huh? Please lower you expectations some more. A successful season doesn't revolve around 1 or 2 games on the schedule (SDSU, NDSU). It's about the body or work. That is how you get to the playoffs. But I wouldn't expect you to know since the Yotes have yet to be there. Yessss! I love how sensitive state fans are....especially when you don't even consider us a rival anymore. State clearly has the better football program lately, no argument there. How many years after the transition to fully funded FCS did it take before state made the playoffs? That's a serious question. How far behind is USD in comparison to state's success after the transition?

Truly hypothetical and it has no bearing on anything, but just to piss State fans off....Minnesota in 2010 would crush Kansas 2015....

Kansas (0-6) remaining schedule:
@ Okie St vs. Oklahoma @ Texas @ TCU vs. W. Virginia vs. K-State
Should be considerable underdogs in each remaining game.

MInnesota was a terrible D1 team when we beat them, they had already lost to NDSU and taken to the wire by SDSU in previous seasons, still a huge win for any FCS dragon though (sort of like sdsu beating the Jayhawks this year, big win but not a complete shocker when you stop and think about it). EWU had a down year that season and was nowhere near the #1 team in country. UNI was a big comeback win and they are a top level team in the Valley, but they have not had the same level of success that NDSU has had the last 10 years. NDSU is the most significant win in the D1 era due to the fact that they are the program that everyone measures themselves against. 26 game home winning streak, 14 game conference losing streak, 47 years since the last USD win in Fargo, coyote nation losing hope....all came to a close with one resounding upset win.

Reminds me of a funny quote from Coach Glenn during the radio show this week, paraphrasing a bit so bear with me. Referring to NDSU, "I guess they're our rivals now, huh? We've heard that enough, right? I mean, you have to beat your rivals every once in a while, though." Classic line, I laughed so hard. Before Jacks fans get their undies in a bunch there was a lot of self-depricating humor in there. Obviously, Joe was referring to how SDSU claims that NDSU is their big rival now and USD is of lesser importance, which is we all know is BS. The first jab was at how SDSU can't beat NDSU, so how can they be rivals? The second jab, which was self-depricating, was at USD and how we need to beat the Jacks in order to make that game a rivalry. Just a great quote on so many levels. I have a feeling this team will be ready when the Jacks visit the Dome.I read ya....Got to beat the Bears first. That would go a long way towards being ready. Right now the NDSU win is just lipstick on a pig until we can prove that game is not an anomaly. I truly believe we will take care of business, but I 'm starting to come back to reality here and focus on the task at hand.

I'm glad someone posted this. I almost forgot about Strong. From the chatter I've heard around the dome, he has the speed and skill set to absolutely turn the valley upside down. Does anyone close to the team know how he is doing? I hope this is the case. I am always skeptical of these situations, however, because so much can happen over the course of a year off, not the least of which is the question of whether he will be in "football" shape. An example of the disappointing way this can go is Edson Avila with MBB. That being said, the year off could be great for Calvin's body. You don't become the all class leaders in rushing in the state of Nebraska without a lot of carries and without taking a lot of hits. Here is hoping he keeps his focus and we have a stacked backfield next year. That will free up the coaches to focus more closely on other positions of need while recruiting. Your right Cousin Eddie. A lot of times these situations are boom or bust. Tyler Starr was in this situation coming out of high school as well, and that worked out REALLY well for the Yotes. Unfortunately, he was the exception not the rule. There are a lot more examples where a kid fell through the cracks and didn't make it. I happen to know Calvin well, got a chance to talk to him at the D-Days game, he has put on some good weight, which was needed. He is bummed that he can't participate and be around the team as much as he would like, but I think thats a good thing. He knows what he needs to do and is getting a lot of support from the academic advisors. He's faced a lot of adversity, but he has no excuses now, if he's going to make it, he has to grind and get it done. I fully expect that he will.

We also have a kid named Calvin Strong, who is freshman and not eligible right now, but if he was, he could be the best RB on the team. I really hope he can get his academics straightened out and get on the field this spring. Could be an excellent group of RBs for the near future at the U. But I digress, Gunn and Frederick are definitely capable replacements for Trevor, and they are available. As Golic from Mike & Mike always says, "The best ability is availability".

Could this be the beginning of the "Keep Joe Glenn"? Ha ha...just goes to show how tough this conference really is. Haven't won a conference game in 14 tries, haven't won in fargo since the late 70s, and the Yotes go in a earn a win today. We didn't "steal one", we went in and fought nose to nose for 4 quarters and earned a huge victory against won of the premier football programs in the nation, at any level. Great coaching, great performance and execution by the players, a the coyotes have new life! Have to carry this momentum into next week and the rest of the season.
Go Yotes!

Say what you want about Ed, I will probably agree with most of it, but that first staff that he assembled had a lot of GREAT coaches on it, too. Friedel (DC) is a SD legend, Jim Glogowski (DL/LB) is now the head coach at Simpson College and has revived that program, We all know how good of a coach Glenn Caruso is, Joe Beschorner (RBs) is now the OC at Mankato, who is #1 in D2, Jarod Dodson (WRs) is now a D3 head coach in New York. The list goes on....a lot of times it is not so much the head coach, but the staff that takes a program to the next level.
