Tough to lose Tyler but looks like we picked up a big load of a JUCO transfer to take his place.

Looks like we added competition at the RB position. Is he on campus now or in the fall?

I’m surprised no one is talking about the Iowa State transfer QB that we have picked up. He is a 6’4 dual threat type QB. He likes to run! Is this topic the elephant in the room? This spring and summer QB competition is going to be an intense battle. How do you all feel about it. Devin is a redshirt Sophomore this coming fall. This reminds me of when we signed Streveler. There was a lot of folks convinced he would be the back up or moved to WR. I said then what I will say now, this staff, like any good staff, will bring in athletes to compete for playing time and the player that gives them the best chance to win will play period. They are not afraid to let a freshman or transfer play even if that means sitting a previous starter or senior. This is true with most quality programs, see the reason why we will now face Jalen Hurts at QB for Oklahoma as evidence. If you want to win and sustain success, you need to be willing to build competition in your program and accept the changes when the occur. Let the competition begin and may the best QB win and lead us back to the playoffs and beyond!

This team is going 9-2, maybe even 10-1. Seriously though, I would say 7 wins is a likely playoff spot but it really depends on how the FCS shakes out. 8 wins is a guaranteed spot. Here's a somewhat conservative shakeout of how I see things: Montana - W @ Oklahoma - L Houston Baptist - W @ Northern Colorado - W Indiana State - W @ Missouri State - W @ UNI - L Southern Illinois - W @ Western Illinois - L Youngstown State - W @ NDSU - L sdsu - W Right now I would be disappointed if we aren't back in the playoffs. The talent was there this year so hopefully coaching changes will put things back on track. I agree I like the start of the season and feel that we should be 5-1 going into UNI. If we can go 3-3 in the last 6 we are in the playoffs. A lot of time between now and next fall, but I would like to think that with big graduating classes form both XDSUs, there is going to be greater parody throughout the MVFC next year.

You are right I know nothing. I won't be going away for good but remember this. I can guarantee I know more then all of you about football. I also know way more with what is going on with the program then all of you. You can bitch and moan about what I say but its all true. All of you pipe smokers need to look at the program without having your blinders on. Our rbs were horrible this year anyone coming in? The oline has not improved and your switching to a new defense. Its December and it doesn't look good already. But the spring game will come and go and All of you will predict a 11-1 or a 10-2 record. But by the end of the season you will be bitching about everything. I am gone for now but will be back. Merry Christmas I am a parent as well, my son will be graduating in the spring. Has he switched positions since the new staff came in? Yes 4 times and they all were in the middle of the season, where injuries created a lack of depth. He can easily pick up the schemes, but the technique and nuances of each position takes a little time. Has he played and much as I wanted? No. Has he played as much as he wanted? No. But he has accepted each change with a spirit of "that's what my team needs from me." He has stayed positive and we all have supported the others on the team who were playing in front of him. I have not doubt that your son has had this type of attitude as well, I have heard nothing to indicate otherwise. Is your football IQ higher than everyone here? Maybe. Are you more connected to the program than everyone here? No. So, has my son's college career been what were dreaming ever since he started to get recruited? No, but we are damn proud parents, who has watched their son put himself through college and turn into an outstanding young man. When you come on here and act the way you do, you are diminishing what you have accomplished as a parent. I hope you get some time over Christmas break to spend with your son and come to terms with his path in life. Merry Christmas Yodayote, Thank you for that perspective from a parent. You are correct, if any parent is planning on their son getting a big NFL contract , then they made a poor choice in coming to USD or any other FCS school and they should have walked on at Alabama. The fact is these young men are fortunate already to be among the 1% of high school football players who get to play on a Division I program. Your expectations as a parent are correct, parents would all like to see their son start, be the star, or just play more. The reality is that this is a team full of former high school stars and the competition should be great. What they all get is the experience and the education (Which is top notch). They learn skills other students do not get that include teamwork, dedication and resiliency. The path is difficult as a college athlete, these young men have dedicated more hours than most. They often face disappointment and they learn to overcome and work for the success of the team over the individual. Yes, coaching changes can effect playing time and also result in position changes to help the team. Additionally, coaches are always looking to recruit their replacement and that can mean a freshman steps in and starts over a senior. The end result is young men. like your son, who are better prepared to be successful after graduation in whatever vocation they pursue. Additionally, the experiences they have are not like most college students and they build a lifetime of memories and relationships. Every parent that has a student be a part of the program for a single year or for their entire college career should be very proud and keep in perspective the fine young men they all become. Congrats to you and your son for all the the time and dedication he put in as a member of the Yote team! All parents should be so proud of their children. Merry Christmas!

Since we are throwing names out there, any thoughts on Steve Bell, current head coach at D3 Augustana College, his son Carter is one of our commits? More of an offensive coach, but lots of experience and coming to D1 would be a big upgrade along with the chance to watch his son play.

Honestly, I am excited to see our defense next year. With Schultz returning and more experience and competition on the line, we can only be better. It is a shame to see Cline gone, but Kramer was consistent and effective, he just needs a blow every once in a while to keep him fresh and hopefully Webb fills that bill. Greeny coming back for one more year only makes us that much better. Clearly we need to find some LBs, I really feel one spot should be filled by a transfer and the other will need to come from our roster. This is a TBD till spring. Cochrane had a good year and he can anchor the middle for a few years. With all the experience our DBs got this year this is the other area where I feel confident. Powell, Reed and Johnson anchor the safety positions, while Collins Jr. and Tisdale anchor the CB slots. Incoming players via transfer recruiting or redshirts should provide depth. Cline is set to return as a senior, or is there some news I'm missing? Sorry, just a assumption, since he was removed for the last few games of the season. I would love to see him return if that all works out.
