It is a good thing when other programs want your coaches.

Time for some predictions on this tourney. How about others join in as well.
First Round
SDSU over Omaha - 90-67 - If the Jacks don't win this one their fans will burn down the Denny NDSU over Denver - 76-67 - the Bison can be good but typically they just win when it matters Western Illinois over Oral Roberts - 76-73 - with a three pointer at the buzzer South Dakota over Kansas City - 75-70 - but I don't feel comfortable with this game at all
Second Round
SDSU over South Dakota - 87-72 - unfortunately the Coyotes don't play lock down defense often enough NDSU over Western Illinois - 66-62 - another skim by win by the Bison
Final
SDSU over NDSU - 84-73 - if this one comes down to the final 2:00 I think the Bison figure out a way to win.

OK so how about some predictions. Put your money where your mouth is.
First round
SDSU over Denver 82-54 South Dakota over Western Illinois 76-55 Kansas City over NDSU 64-56 North Dakota over Oral Roberts 72-68
Second round
SDSU over North Dakota 68-54 South Dakota over Kansas City 73-65 but it is going to take a lot of effort and a second half comeback
Final
SDSU over South Dakota 71-63 - if the Coyotes don't come into this the significantly better team too many things tend to do wrong in this game. The Coyotes just won't have the energy in this one and I think Yote fans will end up upset with the officiating. Hannah gets in foul trouble as well.

I am not sure Sjerven is technically the best player in the Summit League (she might be) but she is gonna be the toughest player to replace in the league and by that definition I think she is the most valuable. Sjerven is also so deeply embedded in Jacks fans heads and that alone has to be like getting votes for MVP.

Well said fightsd,
The better the Jacks do it hurts the Coyotes, it doesn't help them. If they struggle and become mediocre it gives the Coyotes a better chance to win the Summit tourney and get to the tournament. It also gives them an advantage over SD in recruiting as well. I also wish they would lose by 40 in the NCAA tourney and lose every first round game in the Summit tourney. Some want the Jacks to win and that is their choice. Some want them to get to the final four.
If the Jack Women would have become mediocre about 10 years ago the Coyotes would probably have about 6 or 7 NCAA appearances by now. SDSU's success in Men's and Women's Basketball is absolutely a huge reason that Coyotes do not have more NCAA appearances and that is not really debatable. Cheering for them is indirectly cheering against the Coyotes. The Coyote Men would probably have at least one NCAA tourney appearance but the Jacks, the Refs and their pro Denny crowd is an absolute hinderance to SD and their chances. I am tired of going into that building and coming out of it with multiple heart breaking losses against them. It is one of the reasons that I am not real excited to attend the tourney. I did 2 years ago but I have no plans to attend this year and sit in the rafters. It actually doesn't really bother me much at all. I don't really like the Summit League so I don't feel obligated to support their tourney. I will support the Coyotes but I would rather do so in Vermillion. I will go to the tourney from time to time but my guts were ripped right out of me after the loss to the Jacks in the Men's semi's a few years ago. I felt sick walking out of there and felt like never stepping foot in that building again. I felt like the crowd, the refs, the league, luck, the world and some type of god were all against the Coyotes that day. This is not our tourney and never really has been.

How about this for a tie breaker. Have the Coyotes and Jacks play a 5 minute overtime session with winner getting the top seed.

Congrats Coyotes on another conference title. I will never take that for granted although it can be easy to do.

I still consider that game the worst referee screw job that I can remember against a Coyote team. 11 straight fouls against the Yotes in the second half completely turned around that game. That still makes me angry about 5 years later. I blame the Summit league for that and ever since I have wanted the Yotes out of the league.

I am going Yotes blowout 82-57. With the flight the players might be a bit fresher. Co conference title awaits and the Yotes are going to Macomb with a purpose. Sorry Necks.

Larkins is easy to cheer for with the way she plays the game. Definitely my fav newcomer this year.

The Coyotes are 11-4 since the third game of the conference season. Not bad. Will this team translate to the tourney format and have much of a shot? They will in the first round but the potential of a SDSU second round game is probably a season ender. The Coyotes still don't have a win against the Jacks in the Summit tourney so that would be a nice little monkey to get off their backs. The Jacks would have all the pressure and the Coyotes would need their best defensive effort of the year to get by that one. On any given Monday.

Kansas City isn't that good but if there was one team that I would not want to play other than the Jacks it would probably be them. I believe they gave both teams the most trouble of any other team. I believe they are a fairly athletic team as well. It doesn't really matter to me. I would rather have the 1 seed if tied with the Jacks.
Does anyone really believe that the Coyotes are going to lose to anyone other than the potential to lose to the Jacks. The Jacks losing to Omaha last year was a total fluke. Omaha wasn't good before and hasn't been good since. Typically Oral Roberts is the team that I would not want to play but they haven't really proven to be much this year. Give me Western Illinois any and every day. Team that don't play lock down D in the Summit League typically don't stand much of a chance again the Coyotes.
I would limit the minutes of the key players and play the risk card a bit in the first two rounds (especially the first round) and save most of the ammo for the Jacks. That is just the way it is in this conference.

Since it will come down to a secret formula, the thing to hope for would be what path we would prefer.
Path 1: Denver followed by UND/ORU Path 2: WIU followed by KC/NDSU I think I would prefer KC in the semis instead of ORU, so the 2 seed may be preferable. I would prefer to skip DU in the first round (Uju could go off), but weird things could happen playing WIU twice in 5 days.
I would never give up a share of the conference title to worry about matchups. The Coyotes and Jacks are so far above everyone else that it shouldn't really matter who they play. There is not team above the rest that would be a significant difference than anyone else. The rest of the Summit is a train wreck.

I talked to someone close to the program and was informed that if the Coyotes beat Western Illinois that SD would likely win the tiebreaker. Take that with a total grain of salt because I have not heard anyone else speculate on it. Just conveying what I heard.

The nice thing about the wind tonight is it there is no need for moral victories. I like real victories and tonight was one of those. Oral Roberts had a very good crowd and the coyotes could have easily lost this game so I credit the team for really having a gutsy effort tonight. Now it's to the season that really matters the most and we will see what the yotes do at the tournament.
