I was fine last week, but after today I think we had a missed opportunity. That said, teams like NDSU and Montana, the moment doesn't get too big for them. I think the moment was too big for us, uncharted waters. Now that we've been there we know what it's like and can work to get over that hump. It takes time.

Either we just stunk last week or NDSU played their game of the year, I'm just not sure. Bison have come back to Earth this week and are down 7 in the 4th at Montana.

This might be a little thread drift, but I was surprised talking with some NDSU fans on Saturday. How do I paraphrase this, basically, there team was playing out of their mind that day because too many of their guys were playing for fat NIL paydays. The fans know what is coming and they are not happy.
Maybe a bit pessimistic but there might be at least a little grain of truth there.
My response was that I thought it was futile for us FCS schools to try to play the NIL game. No matter what we do we cannot compete when the big boys come knocking with 6 figure paydays for our players. Secondly, based on how we were playing today, we might be safe from getting pillaged by NIL offers from the big boys.

This thread is old and not relevant to where we are at a year later. Time to lock it up.

Bison looked really hungry today. If them and the Jacks meet up in Frisco I think I'd take the Bison. They were very impressive today. Hats off to them, they earned it today.

The games been over for a half hour. Can we take a breather on the "Bob" discussions? I wasn’t advocating for it or saying he needs. It was a simple post game thought of I wonder how much longer he’ll want to stay on the sidelines. He’s got us going on a good path for sure, but he’s also had a really solid career, minus a few rough seasons here, and has earned retirement imo. Do I see him leaving yet? No. If he did announce a retirement though it wouldn’t shock me. That's fair. I didn't take your post that way, BTW. More of a post season musing about the future.

Well that’s that. A great season but the spotlight finally got a little too bright. Will we be back? Hard to tell but one can hope. Couple post game thoughts: We never adapted to the game, second half each possession we had we played with no urgency. Why not start trying to up the tempo a bit and just open up the play book and switch it up. It’s clear the way we were used to playing wasn’t working. (This is not an advocation for Bob retiring) but I was thinking he’s in his mid 60’s now and I wonder how much longer he’ll stay on the sidelines. It seems like even though we lost a 10-3 season and a 3 seed would be great timing to pass the baton. Bob ain't leaving. He's been through the highs and lows here. We're on a high and building. Just getting started. No way he's not seeing this through. No way.

Ok. Now that I've stepped back from the ledge ...if you would have told be before the year started that we would lose big to NDSU in the quarters I would have gladly signed up for the ride. It's still a bitter pill to swallow. They played their best today, we didn't, and the score indicates that. This Bison team could give the jacks some trouble. This is where I'm at too. I knew we have building and we're a year ahead of schedule. Stepped out at half and had some beers with a couple Bison fans. They were very complimentary. Honestly, I think they knew more about USD Football than many Coyote fans. They were shocked by what was happening. I just said we're a year ahead of schedule, haven't been on this stage before and they have been and it shows. Regardless of the outcome today this has been a successful season and something to build on. We're young and getting better. Great year Yotes!

We've already beat them in their building, and it wasn't a fluke. We backed it up with a 9-2 regular season. Just being here is not good enough. This game is a must win. Why? We lose and it's the same old, same old. USD plays little brother to the mighty XDSU's. We have to win this game to upset the pecking order in the Dakotas. To really make this season special and prove this program has arrived on the big stage. To send the message the time of the Bison is over, it's our time now.

What’s everybody’s thinking on the keys to the game Saturday? Shorten the game and take advantage of every possession. Win like we've won all year - grind it out and control the clock. Don't let them turn it into a track meet. NDSU moves slow on offense. They'll try to grind you out. Last game there were very few possessions because both teams on offenses grinded it out. That means offensively for USD every possession is important. No turnovers, must score points, or at the very least, flip field position, and we need to hit big plays in the pass game like we did last time. Defensively, we need to shut down their run game and get off the field on 3rd down.

Hmm. I would have been fine with a change but I'm also fine with this, weirdly. Sometimes bad things happen and you need to stay the course. This season was a nightmare but I still think Bob is a good coach. Will be watching closely the changes he makes. As for Herbster, great AD. We're lucky he hasn't moved on. All of our programs are doing really well but football. Let's see if Bob can get this team going in the right direction next season. There is a lot of crow to eat in this thread. Fortunately, not by me.

I would bet that Leanne has only a few ELITE schools on her list. Pretty much just Nebraska or Minnesota in the Midwest. I'd add Wisconsin. They're pretty good.

Bison fans don't give us much credit. Coyote fans come out of the woodworks when they see a winner. We've seen it in WBB, selling out the Dome for the WNIT, WBB games in general are well attended, great attendance for VB, etc.
I know so many people that are coming back for this game, people buying 10, 15, 20 tickets for friends and families. The turnaround time on this was like two days, lots of moving parts.
Personally, I think the USD ticket office did a great job considering the challenges while also handling ticketing for the other events they were handling at the same time.
Unbelievable to me that Bison fans think they are entitled to tickets to this ahead of long time STH, Howling Pack members, alumni, etc. If this game were in Fargo I would in no way feel like I should have priority over their STH or Teammakers members.

I'm sure the promo code got shared. You don't seem to need to be a HP member, just need the code. We will be vetting all accounts with tickets to ensure they are season ticket holders and/or Howling Pack members. Promo code sharing is being policed. Ban sales to North Dakota residents.
