The die hard fan base comes for the game. I suppose a better sound system and overall game day experience might attract more casual fans, but in Vermillion SD with a limited budget, how much can we really do? And its hard for me to imagine a bunch of people saying "Hey, there's a great half time show in Vermillion this weekend, let's go!" Personally, 9-2 is what I care about. Doing that every year will do more for attendance than anything else. This. I’ve been to many football games and events both before and after remodel. I don’t think I’ve ever recall sitting there thinking about the sound system- but that’s just me. Usually either tuned into the game or making small talk between plays. Would think there’s bigger fish to fry? Do we really need a dome club and 2 different iterations of “coyote landing” or can we repurpose one of those spaces for say a student in game tailgate?

Play calling has been pretty vanilla. I get being worried about the O line but didn’t we know that going in? Seems like we just wanna take our licks and go home

Fine someone who will not get arrested like what happen last season Yeah I’m sure they are only looking at guys with misdemeanors instead of felonies.

Klosterbauer is a great shooter. Reffed one of her games this summer. Good mechanics too. I’d be surprised if she isn’t on the floor as a freshmen. Admittedly don’t know as much about kieffer and broughon other than broughtons injuries and still putting up the stats she has this year being quite impressive. Just getting some of our other scholarship bodies healthy will be helpful as well.

Coyotes have no defense. How did it get this bad ? Way too many missed bunnies and turnovers. uhhh alot has changed in 10 months. if you haven't adjusted expectations for this years team by now there's not much else to say. There's inconsistencies for sure but there is also a step back in size, physicality and athleticism from prior rosters- some of which you can't coach/teach.

I liked the clog the lane help defense last night- really mucked up the middle and made NDSU throw skip passes all night from the wing and block. IF we can just get some scoring from Mason/AJ down the stretch that would be a huge lift. Burchill made some great plays last night for us too- could argue he should be a starter going forward for what he brings as a 2 way player. Max and Paul do struggle with shot selection at times, but I dont fault them as the offense is so stagnant at times. Need to take care of business saturday as well.

Performance would also be a major factor. you cant really promote anyone internally when you are winning 4-5 games a year. Feels like we would need to be in the 7-10 win ball park consistently to even discuss an internal promotion or coach in waiting.

I like the hire for a couple reasons. First, Like I mentioned in the Natty champ thread, we need to build a roster/philosophy around beating the xdsu schools- we tried the spread offense and various concepts off of it primarily shotgun based and have not had the success necessary to be reliable and sustainable in the valley. I am not saying we need to have strictly run first, power run game offense, but we do need to have some aspect of that to be successful. you can't have 2 conference losses every year on your schedule before its even made simply because you don't have a power run game and can't stop the power run game. While Josh is by nature has a WR/passing game background- he was around one of if not thee best rushing attack in FCS over the last decade basically. So, blending into my second point, he brings a new perspective and is not from the Bob Nielsen coaching tree which I like. we need to mix it up because the offense was insanely vanilla and conservative once Bob took over play calling this year and Camp was still at the helm- some to protect the ball i am sure. So I am excited for the hire, and I find it very strange to already be questioning the 2 basketball hires.

Lol that game was less than 24 hours. Let the dust settle. if it is not someone from that game, then by all means be upset at the process/timing.

I watched every minute of the game. Congratulations to SDSU - you have an impressive team and you played very well today. Also impressed with the strong turnout of SDSU fans that showed up in Frisco. Well done. Can only speak for myself, but watching that makes our 3 wins this year hurt even more. It will be a long off season. Hope our players and coaches make the most of it. Same. Watched some of the other coverage too and saw it referenced a few times that sdsu built their team around competing with and beating ndsu over the last several years. It wasn’t long ago that Ndsu controlled the trenches against everyone, and now that script is flipped and sdsu completely controlled the los in the ground game today. Hoping our staff takes a long look in the mirror this offseason and finds a similar philosophy because if you look at who sdsu has coming back, everything runs through them again the next few years. We need to start being competitive up front or not much else matters on the outside and back end.

Having “the big 3” for an extra season was the best thing for this team and the worst thing for this team. The 3 ate up so much playing time that very few of our current roster got much PT. Now the lack of experience is glaring. Going against those 3 in practice and seeing their work habits should outweigh any negative to playing time. most of our returners oustside of Grace were playing specific roles around them anyway- catch and shoot, play defense, rebound, etc- so this year would have been a sharp learning curve regardless having to playmake and play a lot harder and faster without the players we lost last year. This team will inevitably get better but are also very limited with the current personnel on both ends. we lack size and athleticism-2 things you can't necessarily learn or teach so that will always impact the way we play. I agree this year will hopefully at least serve as a spring board for Demers, Carson, Duffney and the sophomores to build out some experience and roles for the future.

Agree with everything being said around expectations. We talk so much about the scoring we lost from the seniors last year, but they were all outstanding defensively in their own right. Chloe and Liv were both good defenders and above average athletes, and then the more obvious is losing Hannah who was an all world defensive presence for us. it is more difficult to run teams off the 3-point line when you don't have an elite shot blocker to close off driving lanes to the basket. And again, I think a lot of the lineups that we play are a lot less athletic than what we have been accustomed to the last few years.
On the plus side, I have been impressed with the 3 point shooting both overall and some really solid Indvidual performances. Really curious to see what this team looks like end of January.

This will be a big day for Mr. Bouman. From here on out for him, every opponent will have seen game film of him, so...unpredictable moves will be harder to come by. Good luck in the ice castle. Do coyotes and penguins coexist anywhere in nature except the MVFC? Granted there isnt much out there right now on Bouman, I gotta think we are harder to game plan for with him back there in the long run. in very limited snaps, he showed he can keep his eyes up and throw it down field- something that has been Camps downfall this year. We had a 3 game stretch between ndsu and Illinois state where we exclusively ran a variety of screens, short passing, and a higher run mix that we are used to. I still expect a health run mix with the success we have had there at times, but I think we become much more dynamic in stretching the field with Bouman. the throw he made on the run down the east sideline that was a foot overthrown is the kind of stuff that excites you about him- Big, accurate arm- we will just have to see if he can sustain reading defenses and going through progressions throughout a game when the pockets are not as clean, down in distance, etc.
