I don’t think anyone is really implying that. I think there has been overwhelming disappointment at the lack of HS recruits that we have gotten though. To further that, we have also missed on 2 local kids- freidel and Bruns- that were in our backyard. I’m fine with transfers in today’s college basketball, but I think we should be pulling at minimum 2 recruits from the region out of HS every year. There’s a ton of good Hs players within a 5 hour drive of vermillion- MSP, Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Rapid. So either we aren’t relating to those kids or we are lazy. Are we really still butt hurt about not getting Freidel? We dodged a bullet with him. Even with state trying to keep all of his BS under wraps, it's pretty clear to everyone that's even passively paid attention to that program that he's an off the court nightmare. There plenty of things to criticize about Lee's recruiting but that one goes in the win column as far as I'm concerned. Lol I don’t think anyone would disagree based on how that played out. Are you going to argue that that kid wasn’t supremely talented coming out of hs? Larger point being, in state and neighboring state talent is not choosing usd, no matter how close, no matter what/when we offer.

I don't want Austin Hansen anywhere near the program. It is imperative that Coach K stays in Vermillion. Hanson has zero shot. I’m 50/50 on EP. I think there is a lot to like but I was hoping we’d go a different direction. You have to think Alan Huss for Creighton would be a slam dunk. Creighton lost every starter from last year, they got better as the season went on were dealt injuries along the way. I know mcd does some OC and DC type thing down their with his assists so I’m not sure if Huss was in charge of defense or not but their Defense was #1 in the big East and that’s with playing 3 freshman and a sophomore a ton of minutes. Huss would be my pick. Sounds like Huss is being strongly considered for the Omaha job

Peterson was at Williston not Minot. Since the general opinion is since recruiting has been so bad the players we have now are crap? Surprising we were able to win any games at all. Whoever comes in I hope he keeps Kasperbauer as an assistant. I don’t think anyone is really implying that. No idea. It isn’t a huge secret, just not sure if I should share it. Will come out at some point anyway. The hiring is the bigger news. Lol man...stop dangling the carrot

St Thomas More's Olivia Kieffer is playing tonight at 6PM too in the Class A Semifinal in Brookings. They are the 4-seed taking on 1-seed Wagner. The winner might play #2 West Central or #3 Hamlin. Kieffer plays for rapid city Christian who lost in the playoffs by 1 I think. She had a pretty nice season though and her shot looks really nice for her age for those that have not seen her.

Thought from Grand Forks maybe you add Paul Sather to the list. Been a long cold winter here. You can't judge him on his time in GF. You guys know his record at Northern. It's eerie here he may want out. Ummm no thanks

Year 4 and we have no more than 3 players recruited out of high school contributing. What is there to rebuild? The roster turns over so quickly the way Lee has built it that he himself has to rebuild way too often. Lee's first recruiting class had no chance outside of the transfer market, and he did bring in Kelley in that class, but there's been 3 classes since with very little fruit. Lee seems to get credit for being a good coach. Can we look back at some of the talent he squandered? Year 1 - Starting Umude, Simpson, Peterson, TBM, and Kelley. 5 guys that make a very solid starting lineup. We lose 96-70 in the 1st round of SLT. Year 2 - Starting Umude, Simpson, Peterson, Hagedorn, and Kelley. Even more solid lineup and more depth. Get embarrassed by UND in 1st round again. I've pretty much been done with Lee since that point. Year 3 turned out better than I expected. Umude and AJ were great complements to each other, but I still have to qualify that as a predecessor's recruit and then plain dumb luck that AJ is even on the roster. Year 4 and we still are making excuses for Lee. AJ is one guy, and we had some very capable guard play in his absence. Umude left but wasn't supposed to be eligible at this point and wouldn't have impacted past recruiting cycles. Where are all of the guys that should be filling the roster by this point? The Todd Lee era was one long running disappointment for me. I'm excited for the future. Admittedly, I had forgotten how full the cupboard was when Lee started. Losing Mooney was the big sting in year one, but still had ample firepower to compete. That year 2 loss in the SLT was unacceptable. Never been more upset after a SLT game. SDSU lost the first round too so the tourney was wide open. Ultimately, there were certainly concerns off the course both with incidents and personality. In the end, you can maybe survive one of those two (on court success with off court issues). But, you can not survive questions around both. I dont buy the "tampering" stuff. this is college basketball and a business. Anyone who thinks there are not conversations, even if through a third party, happening then you haven't been paying attention to the sport. Doesnt make it right, but its happening constantly. As for a new coach, I would like to see a younger coach with a history of recruiting success preferably with knowledge of this area. Prior head coaching experience a huge plus also. Greg Lansing Eric Petersen Those are the local tie names if we could ever land a big time assistant ala Brian Michaelson of Gonzaga I think thats a home run hire too. Those types usually hold out for the "perfect" job though. I am pretty lukewarm on the Joe Krabbenhoft talk.

We need to recruit better and we need better support from coyote fans in Sioux Falls. The turnout last night was about what I expected and realistically a pretty fair reflection of the ratio in SF and the rest of the state. As much as that sucks. We've had this discussion several times before, but we're just outnumbered. That is the nature of the beast. It's a farming state and they're a farming school. One that also accepts basically any resident with a pulse. It makes sense that they historically have a bigger fan base. Moving to D1 first put them over the top and we still haven't caught up. It will take years of sustained successes and consistently beating them to begin to bring back the balance. I don’t disagree with any of that. I just get sick of the comments about their fans having the good seats so why bother coming, etc. heard some of that in the alumni room and I just don’t buy it anymore. It’s an excuse. The upper level was 90% jacks fans. Again, they expected to win last night and rightfully so. But, the opportunities to support our teams are certainly there.

I checked and there is flagrant 2 foul in WBB. Is excessive force above shoulders. Given that NDSU player IMHO should have been ejected for the hit to Hannah's face that snapped her head back, it was intentional and the ball had left the area of the 2 players. I agree- if there was ever a play to be ejected on that was it. Very odd move in fighting through a screen to swipe at someone's face/throat not once but twice. it appeared very deliberate. from what they showed on the broadcast, the first technical was bizarre unless I missed something. Awesome third quarter by the Yotes in this one in a really physical game. Larkins had some great drives to the hoop, krull looked good running the offense, and solid bench minutes from Pep. Great team win. Side note- is Chloe the front runner for conference POY? I think she has my irrelevant vote.

this is bizzaro world- where we cancel/postpone games in basketball and bowl games in football for asymptomatic positive tests of vaccinated athletes, yet we jam arenas and stadiums full of people to see said athletes regardless of fans testing or vaccination status.

Ugh. Not a good half to say the least. 11 turnovers, 0-5 from 3, and just a foul fest all around. Just disgusting half on our end.

I ultimately agree with the sentiment that an all mvfc pod is bs. But, with the way siu finished the season and with our performance yesterday and home against isu-red, I really can’t get too upset. We take care of isu and we are likely not in this position.

This is why you should never ever bank on winning in Fargo. If you do it is very much the exception to the norm. Wow the coyotes are not even close to being ready for this game. It is easy to understand why. Anyone wanna take a guess who the Coyotes play in the next regular season valley game. I don’t understand why we weren’t ready? Inexcusable half of football. Just can’t happen at this point in the season if you think you’re a playoff team
