This is really poor timing, but according to the Association for the Protection of Collegiate Athletes, USD is ranked in the bottom five nationally for FCS programs. Hopefully this sort of biased reporting doesn't impact recruiting. Here are the top 10 and bottom 5 programs. Unfortunately both NDSU and SDSU are in the top 10. 2012 DI Football Championship Subdivision Ranking Below are the top 10 NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision ranked against each other and the bottom 5. For the full list of all 122 teams go to - apcanow.org/rankings/2012-season/2012-football/2012-di-football-championship-subdivision-rankingTop 10 1. 0.5188 Colgate University 2. 0.5186 North Dakota State University 3. 0.4739 Wofford College 4. 0.4684 University of New Hampshire 5. 0.4653 California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo 6. 0.4635 Appalachian State University 7. 0.4594 Montana State University 8. 0.4587 University of Dayton 9. 0.4570 South Dakota State University 10. 0.4549 Yale University Bottom 5 118. 0.1844 Georgia State University 119. 0.1788 University of South Dakota 120. 0.1730 North Carolina A & T State University 121. 0.1577 Prairie View A & M University 122. 0.1279 Texas Southern University

One could assume that USD's rating was a reflection of the Ed Meirkort era.
The house cleaning Joe Glenn did would influence the number of athletes leaving before graduation etc.

This is an absolute garbage rating. Record, attendance, coach's contract and titles mixed with academic statistics that aren't exactly telling. They don't even have our graduation rate, appearing to go with a zero value instead, and gave us a fail because too many of the athletes have declared a business major (god forbid they go to a business school with the top accreditation in the nation). Look at the full report, this thing is worthless. NDSU gets the second spot despite a bad graduation rate, an APR lower than ours, university studies is their most common major, and their degrees will get you nowhere anyways.

The report reads like a 100-level group project. Might not be too far off in that assessment. apcanow.org/about-us/teamCredibility seriously in question.

I hope no one takes this report seriously. Just another organization trying to make themselves relevant.

I think I'm going to come out with a report that ranks teams on how good the cafeteria food is and how far players have to walk in between classes. I think it would be as relevant as this one.

It's not a good rating for the program at this time. Although how would you even measure that anyways? It's even a poorer reference considering you've cleaned house.

Honestly, had anyone heard of APCA, before this post? Count me as skeptical of their influence or significance.

This ranks up there with getting an endorsement from Reverend Al Sharpton. People may see it, read it, and maybe even hear about it, but few will find it relevant. I hardly envision potential high school recruits consulting this backwash before making their decision on where to go to college.
