The regular Lunch with the U held at the 41st St. Pizza Ranch will not be held next Thursday.
In its place will be a gathering starting at noon THIS Thursday, February 6th. Coach Glenn and his staff will be on hand to discuss and share video of this year's in-coming class of new recruits, which is growing the Coyote family is I write this.
Note: There are also gatherings on Wednesday in Vermillion and Yankton.
The Vermillion gathering is at The Old Lumber Company beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the live radio broadcast and then the Coyote coaches will share video highlights and speak about the new recruits from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Yankton gathering is at Minerva's with a social starting at 6:30 p.m. and coaches speaking and sharing video from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
It's a GREAT day to be a Coyote!

I am incredibly disappointed that USD was not able to do this in the evening. For one day in the spring, the USD coaching staff should be able to come up to Sioux Falls to do the signing day presentation. We are in the middle of a campaign, building momentum in the Sioux Falls base and the athletic department is reducing its exposure here year by year. Very irritating.
We don't need football games here, but some booster/alumni visits like Coach's Corner would be appreciated.

Agreed, evening would have been a better scenario with likely better attendance.

I glad some of the other people share my thoughts on this event. Doing it at lunchtime doesn't allow much socializing as many people have to get back to the office. The fact that the Old Lumber Company had a SDSU watch party (and advertised it) on Saturday should be reason enough not to hold another function there ever again.

Maybe not the right thread for this comment, but just checked out the Argus Leader website to see what they had on the National Signing Day and they have a picture of a high school player in his new uniform and what uniform is it: Coyotes (no), Rabbits (no), Augie (no), USF (no), the Damn Bison, really.

Did they have a watch party for SDSU fans, or was it a party to watch the USD v SDSU game? I am confused.

It was the official SDSU fan watch party in Vermillion.

Wow. I was going to go to OLC tonight for some food and a few beers and catch some of the signing day festivities. I might head over to Leo's instead.

You guys can't be serious! OLC hosted a SDSU party is the reason you won't support them today? It is Vermillion people! The food business is a hard business and many people fail. OLC needs to host ANY event that will bring people in the door. Now if they were "sponsoring" and providing comp food I would understand.
There aren't many "decent" options in Vermillion, you finally get one, support it before they close and you are stuck with Cherry Street Grill and Roadhouse.
Go ask a business professor on campus it makes sense to turn away a party in their establishment!

I did not hear about the watch party at OLC, but there are so many things wrong with that. Only time I'm ever in there is for Coyote-related functions, so I wouldn't be upset at all if we found a different home for our coach's show. Too bad the only other suitable venue that comes to my mind is Howlers, and I'd rather not give them my business.
That is a shame too that they couldn't have an evening event in Sioux Falls, or perhaps even Rapid City if we really wanted to get ambitious (the basketball game went amazingly well, despite initial resistance). It has to be very tough for our patrons to make it to Lunch with the U and get back to work on time, and regular evening events, especially for Signing Day, would help out our SF fans a lot.

It's pretty common knowledge that we aren't going to ever sell out a basketball game in The Dome, and if they are a partner with Coyote athletics they should be doing work on a post-game party instead. They did it at the football games this season, offering free food and drink immediately after the game, and it absolutely packed the bar. If OLC is ever going to host a party during the game, it has to be one that is sold out. Leveraging their relationship in a way that hurts attendance is unacceptable.

We have much more established venues (Leo's, Carey's, Main St Pub, Varsity, etc.) that have been sponsoring USD athletics longer than OLC has even been in Vermillion.

I wouldn't be in favor of it but I certainly wouldn't let that from keeping me going there. (specially when they host USD events and one of the best places in town) I fully understand the "fans" side of this. But, we don't own OLC and factor in the business side of it. I guarantee Cubbys owners wouldn't turn down the business if you did so. With that said does anyone know how that event went?

I would pay to sit in about 10% of the seats in the dome. All of those are season ticket holders. I know I am beating a dead horse here but the dome is BAD for basketball and everyone knows this. Now if this were the case if/when the new hoops arena is done, when I agree. Right now you can't expect people to come and sit way up in some terrible seats.
