You know, I go to OLC probably a couple of times a month, last Friday night as a matter of fact. I actually like the place. I just find it strange that ANY business in Vermillion would host an SDSU watch party. It is simply bad business as it will turn some people (me being one) off. I honestly can't believe they did that and advertised it. I can see if they turned out to be the unofficial pre/post game hangout for Jack fans, okay, you gotta go somewhere. But to agree to host a watch party? Incredible.
As has been pointed out there are many other options in Vermillion. It's usually a coin flip as to whether we go to OLC or hit burger night at Leo's. We'll go to the OLC tonight because of the Signing Day activities but it's definitely got me thinking about loyalties in the future.
On a related note. Where can go to in Brookings for the USD watch party when we play State at Frost? There won't be enough room to hold all the fans so I want to know which bar/restaurant will be holding the Official Coyote gameday watch party in Brookings.

So you would be ok with Cubby's hosting a USD fan watch party in Brookings? We have much more established venues (Leo's, Carey's, Main St Pub, Varsity, etc.) that have been sponsoring USD athletics longer than OLC has even been in Vermillion. Valid point on the Cubbys. I wouldn't be in favor of it but I certainly wouldn't let that from keeping me going there. (specially when they host USD events and one of the best places in town) I fully understand the "fans" side of this. But, we don't own OLC and factor in the business side of it. I guarantee Cubbys owners wouldn't turn down the business if you did so. With that said does anyone know how that event went? The good business decision would be not to alienate your core base of customers for a one night take. It's shortsighted. I'd be surprised if Cubby's hosted a USD watch party.

I drove downtown and the OLC looked like a place for a beer. Sure enough there were a bunch of Jackrabbit fans and some Coyote fans in the business. There was plenty of room in there for more. I would guess by tip for the game there were not many left in the bar. The biggest difference may have been that Cubby's would not have had as much room before the game. I know that many Bison have made it to Cubby's without any problems. It(OLC) is a nice place with very good help. The waitress still would not be cheering for the Jackrabbits though.

For crying out loud people Cubbies DID Host a USD party recently. Last year I think I have been there for two USD parties one before football and one before men's BB. Get over it OLC is fine with what they did. For crying out loud no business majors on here is right.

(And, some SDSU fans grumbled a little but I don't recall anyone suggesting taking business away.) I recall Vermillion being fairly open-minded and "cosmopolitan" in my days down there.

I believe Howlers bills themselves as the pre and post-game destination. That is how OLC should associate themselves as well, unless The Dome is likely to sell out. I'm sure you Jack fans would be pretty disappointed if Cubby's was packed for a watch party while Frost had many open seats.

I thought Howlers in Vermillion was owned by an SDSU grad with a son attending SDSU.
I feel the same way about this issue (SDSU watch party at OLC) as the complaint that Scheels does not carry enough USD gear. It is just capitalism.

This is America. And doing business is the American way. However, that being said, business runs on a two way street. If the patrons of your business don't like how the business is run the. They can vote with their checkbook. And by that I mean no longer patronize the business. That's the American way. Personally speaking, my attitude would be in how it was handled. Did they advertise and make a big splash? If so, then if I was a coach at USD I would move my show to where it should be anyhow. And that's CAREYS. CAREYS always has been a USD institution ( or Leos ) and give them the business regardless. I always have believed in rewarding those that reward you.
As far as OL.C hosting a Jacks event, that's their call. How the fans want to voice their opinion is up to them. And as consumers, they have every right to do that.

Went to OLC last night. Some of the new recruits looked real good on film. By the highlights you could tell right away there will be TE's that will be moving to OT and DB's that are going to LB's. Speed everywhere.
The wings were good. Grain Belt on tap is a reason to keep going back.

The first rule is if people are talking about it negatively it's not a good thing. Contrary to the saying, this is a case where bad publicity is not a good thing. Like I already posted, as long as they keep Grain Belt on tap they're ok in my book and they have the best wings in town (certified official by Yote 53). If they added PBR on tap they'd be golden but I don't think my wife would appreciate the OLC very much though!

I agree entirely that Carey's is the most USD-friendly joint in town (plus their drinks are a bit more reasonably priced!). I can't say they have the right setup to host the event, plus they lack food. OLC is definitely the best venue to host the event, they just need to make sure they don't step on anyone's toes.
