A Duck fan here. How's the team looking this spring? Anyone going to the game? Does your home scoreboard have three digits? I've talked to a good number of people that are making the trip, but they're largely the die-hard types. My guess is we'll have a couple hundred or so. We've brought good crowds to the more regional FBS games (Minnesota, Wisconsin & Kansas), but Eugene is obviously more of a trek. Should be a great fan experience regardless of the projected outcome. My hope is that you guys come out rusty, unmotivated and merciful. I think keeping the score respectable is the realistic aim of our fans, but that's a tough battle when Oregon blows out good teams within its own conference. We have a good stable of running backs and a gunslinger at QB. Our offensive line and secondary are full of question marks. Our D-line has some talent. It's all relative, of course. Though we play in the toughest FCS conference in the country, you guys are a different animal. Thanks for posting.

I wish I were going to the game, can't quite budget a trip to Oregon.
If your QB knows how to throw the ball deep, then you'll have no problem getting 50+ points. It's alright though, if we're playing someone big, might as well shoot for the top.

Well, the weather is generally great that time of year in Eugene, at least -- hot and low humidity during the day, and cool at night. Autzen will be relatively low energy, and I expect Oregon to play pretty vanilla and call off the dogs early -- particularly with Michigan State next on the schedule. ...but, you know, FCS teams can and do surprise from time to time. Just ask Oregon State. Lots of great beer in Eugene, if not many great restaurants (there are a few). eDuck's "Open Season" is probably the highest volume Duck board; drop by if you need suggestions for things to do, etc. I would definitely recommend a few days in Portland if you can swing it. It's quite a fun city.

Thanks for posting. It will be a fantastic trip for our kids and alumni as well. We are all excited to see just how amazing your facilities are. We look forward to the pregame tailgate, as well as the night before. Obviously we don't have sugar plums dancing in our heads about upsetting you. Our goal is to come out west, play hard, and represent ourselves well.
I'm sure your fan base isn't excited about us, but we appreciate " the shot at the title". We won't lay down and play dead. Your speed will kill us, not the physicality of the game. Looking forward to it. Come back and stay in touch with us.

Oregon is one of the fastest teams in the country. We have a good team, but there is no realistic chance we can beat the Ducks. Mariota will be unstoppable and probably be out by half time. I wouldn't be surprised if he won the Heisman this season. If we can keep it within 35 points I would call it a "win". It is a great opportunity for USD and for the players to see the school and facilities. You should get a good look at Royce Freeman, it will be interesting to see a RB at Oregon with a more power style than speed.

I know there are bigger issues in the world, but guess I'd be satisfied (not happy - that would take a win) if Oregon fans became familiar with the correct pronunciation of our team: Coyotes = "ky-oates".
I think they'd understand, since Oregon is often mispronounced.
Eugene reminds me of the running boom days. Still wish I'd kept my Bill Bowerman Nike waffle running shoes back in the 80s. Believe they're worth a bit today.

Mine were purple with orange trim. All I know is that after running a marathon in them I found myself in the podiatrist's office getting fitted for orthotics! (I know I'm way off topic, but thank you anyway jackjd).

That's how it's most often pronounced out here -- maybe not in Portland metro, but definitely in the rest of the state.

All I know about Portland is what Fred Armisen has told me.
It's not quite as feminist bookstore, "cultural studies," neo-Marxist granola as it's portrayed in Portlandia. One thing it misses, I think, is just how drunken the place is -- there are a crazy number of bars in Portland. And it has a seedy underbelly that the show ignores, with the most full-nude strip clubs per capita of the top 50 largest cities in the US.

Don't know what the official number is, but Mariota looks like he's put on 20 pounds of muscle since he last took the field. Excited about Freeman. We've had some big backs in the past: :-) And that Jonathan Stewart fellow.
