www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/24555751/jim-tressel-named-president-at-youngstown-stateJim Tressel, a football coach with no experience in any positions that would make him remotely qualified to lead a university, has been appointed president at Youngstown State. He doesn't have a doctorate, not even an honorary one, and would not even sniff this position at any university outside of Ohio. Youngstown State has seen a rapid decline in enrollment these last five years, dropping from around 15k to under 13k, and they seem to be in some deep trouble. I can't see hiring your old football coach having anything but a negative affect on an already dying university. There are dozens of people already holding far less prestigious positions at their university who would be far more qualified to be president. While this may create a short-term boost to enrollment, I can't see any of the academic staff being anything short of irate. Can you imagine if Joe Glenn were named president here? I love the guy, but winning football games does not remotely qualify one to be the leader of a university. I wonder what affect this will have on Youngstown's state in the MVFC. Wouldn't be surprised to see Tressel push them to FBS or something.
