Remember that the groundbreaking for the new $66 million Sports Performance Enhancement Facility, Research Lab, and Outdoor Track & Field and Soccer Complex a/k/a "The Arena" is tomorrow, (Tuesday), June 17th at 1:45 p.m. in the parking lot directly south of the Dakota Dome. Gov. Daugaard will be on hand along with President Abbott, USD Athletic Director David Herbster and several other USD dignitaries. The event is free and open to all and a reception will follow in the Dome. Hopefully the weather will get the rain out of its system today and Mother Nature won't have any major set-backs once construction begins.
Also, if you haven't signed up yet, spaces are filling up for the final two Howling Pack golf outings. The Sioux Falls event takes place next Monday, June 23rd at Willow Run Golf Course. Registration is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. followed by a dinner and awards reception at 5:30 p.m. I was lucky enough to golf with Coach Huber last year and had a blast.
The Beresford event takes place Monday, July 14th at The Bridges at Beresford course. For those of you who have never golfed this course, it's a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it. It's got some long holes so you long hitters can get your Bubba Watson on and give the ball a ride. Registration will be at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 and a dinner and awards reception at 5 p.m. To register or ask any questions just call Jessi McCloy at 624-5714 and she will help you out and probably brighten your day while she's at it. Finally, the Pack is Growing! Our Howling Pack numbers are looking fantastic so far for 2014, but we need you to Back the Pack! For those of you who have yet to renew your membership for 2014, please do so today. For those of you who have already done so, please do us a favor; find a friend or former teammate, a former classmate, or USD fan or alum and ask them to join. For just $8.33 a month or a one time $100 gift, that simple act multiplied by 1,000 members can and will have a HUGE impact.
