With Earl out Vander Maten will at least have to be a backup. We have to weeks 2 get ready for Montana. Who would you go with.

I fell asleep during Earl's last drive, so I didn't see how Saeger handled things. All I see from Saeger is 5-8 for 62 yards, nothing wrong with that. JVM brings a lot more to the offense when he isn't at QB, so I'd say that if Saeger is at all capable of running the offense I'd put him in at QB.
What did you guys think of Saeger last night?

Assuming Earl is out, Saeger will step into the starter's role. I don't know who would step in to the backup role. Only 2 other QB's on the roster and they are both true freshman. In addition to VanderMaten, there are several others on the roster who have played QB in high school.

Landed in SF around 6:15 this morning and drove home in time to take a 4 hour power nap. Hard to believe just a few hours ago we were near the coast of Oregon watching our Coyotes play a national title contender. Regarding the QB situation, Earl played really well. He made good decisions, for the most part was accurate, and he had the Oregon secondary moving. Their goal was to keep our receivers in front of them, and they did that, but Earl made them pay by finding open receivers most times. After he left the game, Ryan came in and did a very respectable job running the offense. He has reasonable arm strength, and according to Coach Glen, this kid has improved as much as anybody since spring ball. Remember, our offensive line did a stand up job last night. Earl was protected for the most part, we moved the ball on the ground, and they held their own against an experienced PAC 12 title contending team. We will run the ball, and if we can do that effectively in our remaining games, then that makes Ryan's job as Kevin's backup that much easier. I have a good feeling about our offense, we are pretty damned good. Very good line, great backs, and very very capable receivers. I think we will have a lot of games in the MVC where the score will be 45-35, or something like that. Lastly, to give everyone a personal feel to all this, when the team boarded the plane last night, I think they felt pretty damned good about themselves. The boosters gave them an ovation when they got off the bus, and I just think overall they left Eugene a better them than the one that landed there Friday night.

I would echo everything you just wrote. Well said.

With Earl's injury it's easy to overlook just how great of a performance our team put up against the Ducks. I hope our guys enjoyed it and don't hang their heads at all, we did just as well and probably better than some of their Pac 12 foes will fare. This was a performance to be proud of, and it sounds like the players are all going to benefit from it.
