I'd like to keep Joe around with some different assistants, but who is ever going to take the job knowing the head coach could retire at any moment?
Keeping the same staff in tact will just be insane. We've gotten significantly worse under this staff, and I can't imagine us winning more than 2 games next year without any change.
To me the only answer is to get an entirely new staff, but then comes the elephant of asking Joe to leave. Can we even do that?
This program is such a mess it isn't funny

A new coach won't bring a new roster with him. We will still have the same players we lost with this season. I didn't see Joe Glenn drop a pass or miss a tackle all year. I'm just teasing a bit. I too think there needs to be some changes made, but definitely not the head coach. I would like to see the OC change and the special teams coordinator, but cleaning house top to bottom doesn't seem like the answer.

It sounds like Glenn is staying(which I would like to see) so the staff there is more than likely going to stay as well. So an option that has not been mentioned yet that would not be bad if we are not going to clean house is hire additional assistants so this staff has the help next year. Wes can stay on under a different assistant coach role and we can get a more experienced OC. we can hire a couple more qualified assistants so we have the same size coaching staff as the rest of the conference. It's a win/win for next year I feel. We get new blood in there. And honestly this sounds like the only way it's going to happen next year from what I have heard everyone currently in place is staying for one more year.

Very confused as to why Beschorner gets a lot of the heat and Petrino gets none. If I have to get rid of one of them, its Petrino for sure. His position and his defense was 10x worse than what our offense did.

It just sounds like that from posters on here that have seemed to be very reliable in the past. It's still an opinion of mine from everyone and everthing I have heard so nothing concrete.

However at least on defense we replaced all four DB's and the best linebacker in school history. His results were still bad but Wes has had all of his talent back this year (I know a lot of injuries as well) but a deep set of RB's and some other weapons like Ramsey, Donovan, Shuefford etc and the offense was so badly managed thats why he takes more heat than Petrino. We expected the def to struggle not the offense during the preseason.

Well if they do retain Glenn, they are putting him in a hell of a position as he is going to want to retain his staff. Glenn is one of the most loyal people from what I've seen, I find it tough to believe he could just sit by and watch his staff be let go. If they retain the staff, the outrage will be unreal. Herbster needs to tread careful so he doesn't piss off the Coyote fan base.

Herbster is golden and his job security is rock solid, as it should be. Spearheaded the fundraising for a new arena. Hit what appears to be a homerun with a men's basketball hire. WBB is solid. Volleyball had a great year. Cross Country and track field always excelling. Heck, every sport at USD is on the upswing with the exception of football. With football he has a beloved Head Coach with a freaking stellar resume that has won everywhere he has gone but here. No way does he have the leverage to fire Joe, even after 3 dismal seasons.
It's going to be more of the same next year. Joe isn't going to fire any of his assistants. Heck, I think he still believes Wes is going to take over someday. No way that will ever happen though. The best idea I have heard is to bring in a new OC and some more assistants to inject some new blood into the staff and help these guys out. The football program as it stands is understaffed right now. More bodies and a bigger budget needed for recruiting.

I agree with all of those statements, but the bottom line is that football rules colleges. For USD to be relavent in the spotlight is to be a contender in football. Some may disagree with that but we have to be good at football. Steps need to be made accordingly. I just am not sure that retaining everyone without expanding to a certain extend is the answer. It sounds like it's prolonging the problem.

On the bright side, if we don't change anything at least I won't have to carry any false hope into the 2015 season like I had this year.
If we really stand pat I'll be nothing short of appalled. To make zero changes is just accepting our never ending spot in the cellar

If they don't make any significant change then I will be very disappointed. Right or wrong, the way I would interrupt that is that are OK with the way the season went. After the season we had, it would be very hard for me to financial support this program. I think Coach Glenn is a great coach and a great alumni, but his loyalty helped ruin his reputation in WYO and I would hate to see that happen here.

Tough spot to be in for all parties involved! I've always liked coach Glenn and hopefully he stays here for another season or more.

The football programs, though FCS, are the ones with the biggest spotlight in SD
