It'd be a huge help if you beat Youngstown today. Good luck!

No one has battled Coyotefan more than me but the fact he raises issues on where we are headed as a program is totally fine with me. Football is the engine that pulls the rest of the sports. USD needs to be competitive in the football world. There have to be times where we are in contention for the title, or the playoffs at minimum.
That being said, I don't want to pull the card of I told you so, but three years ago when coyotefan led the charge of letting Meierkort go, and many agreed, I warned everyone of the repercussions of making a change. I also am now aware of many if the reasons Ed was let go, and from a non football stand point it probably had to happen, but I wasn't aware of many if the things he was accused of. I get why he was let go, I do, but now coyotefan is raising the same issues 3 years later and makes a fair connection that when Joe retires Wesley would take over. That's a reasonable assumption on his part to make.
So let me say this. First of all, I argued back then that we were competitive in football, although we struggled to get road wins. We beat many ranked teams at home, and had what should have been insurmountable leads on the road, then lost. But my point then was the fans of USD hadn't seen as much talent walk through it's doors as it had then, and we played respectable football. There is an argument that the Valley is so tough that every team is capable of beating one another, and that's true, except we aren't winning any of them. We are the bottom, and although I want to believe in my heart we are getting better, it's somewhat difficult to see. So where am I going with this? I was totally against the Meierkort firing back then, and I'm totally against Joes firing/retiring now. We can't keep starting over. You can't do that and expect to win. We don't need to rehash the Meierkort firing because back then I wasn't aware of much oh his personal issues back then, but based on football results, it was the wrong thing to do.
I'll say this. Joe NEEDS to go one more year, and if progress isn't visible, then it's time to change. And as much as I love Wesley as a person, it wouldn't be right to hire him for the job. It would take a whole new staff. But be aware, if we fire Glenn now, USD has then set a precedent that will make it difficult to find a great head coach. The hire would be a dice roll. Our administration has to show the world we are commited to winning football....period. If we can do that, plus raise money for competitive salaries, then we can build a program the right way.
I bet Joe stays another year, and that's important. But coyotefan sees things as they are, I will say that, my opinion is he just doesn't see the big picture. But he has the 3 x 5's down pat. We aren't very good, and that has to change.

Forecast is 38 degrees and rain. Not sure if that is an advantage or disadvantage for USD.
The Yotes results so far are what they are. A quote from the Youngstown paper today notes the obvious: "The Coyotes rank last in the MVFC in scoring offense (18.4 points per game), scoring defense (34.1 ppg), total offense (349.9 yards per game) and total defense (435.0 ypg). Those numbers are even worse in conference-only games."
USD does show flashes of very good play in virtually every game. Can they put together all three phases for four quarters today? I still think they can finish strong and will.
Go Yotes!

This USD offense is putrid! Either dropping good throws or the throws are nowhere near the receiver. USD's freshman RT is really struggling and that doesn't help.
USDs DB pass coverage is about as bad.

It feels like the dam is breaking.... the D and Bergner's punts have been keeping things under control but it feels like it's about to collapse.

On second thought maybe Glenn should kick flags more often, the Yotes have looked good ever since.....

The USD offense is killing the defensive effort today. Need to find a way to get some first downs. Bergener is saving our field position today. Huge punts.

Usd needs to give the RT some help! He is struggling against the DE every pass play.
